It’s really scary what people are burning out there please please please be conscious of the environment what you’re burning due to harmful fumes.
Tony from Clean Sweeps really knows his stuff so please read through his post as we fully support him in this!
More and more I’m finding this in chimneys and liners!! You need to be very careful about what you’re burning on your stove or open fire!
Burning wet wood in your stove? It could be costing you more than you think 🔥
Wet or “green” wood doesn’t burn properly. Instead of giving off clean heat, it creates excess smoke and sticky tar (creosote) that builds up inside your chimney or liner.
Over time this can lead to:
• Chimney fires
• Corroded or damaged liners
• Blocked flues
• Poor heat output
• Higher fuel costs
Worse still, heavy creosote buildup increases the risk of dangerous chimney fires and carbon monoxide issues.
For safe, efficient burning, always use properly seasoned or kiln-dried wood with a moisture content below 20% .. 15% even better!
A small moisture meter costs far less than a new liner or chimney repair!
Burn smart. Burn dry. 🔥
