Mine - 1st was Master of Puppets. Favourite - (which will cause controversy) Justice

On this day in 1983, Metallica finished recording their debut album, ‘Kill ’Em All.’

Before landing their record deal, the band built a fierce underground following through demos and tape trading. After relocating from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area to recruit bassist Cliff Burton, Metallica caught the attention of Megaforce Records founder Jon Zazula through their now-legendary No Life ’Til Leather demo.

With a reported budget of around $15,000, the band entered Music America Studios in Rochester, New York in May 1983 alongside producer Paul Curcio. The result was Kill ’Em All — a raw, aggressive album that helped ignite the thrash metal movement and forever changed heavy music.
