🐶 Head of Timber Inspection

After this week’s trip to the wood yard, we thought it was time to bring in an expert… 🪵👀

Stan has officially taken on the role of Head of Timber Inspection here at Giraffes & Craftz. 🐾

His responsibilities include carefully assessing potential new timber, overseeing quality control and, of course, carrying out the all-important sniff test. 😂

Judging by that very serious look, we think he’s taking his new position rather seriously!

Handcrafted from beautiful French Oak, The Frenchie is finished with contrasting Sapele and Walnut inlays running through the board, creating a distinctive design while still allowing the natural oak grain to take centre stage. 🤎✨

The combination of three hardwoods gives this board its own character, with the rich tones of the Sapele and Walnut standing beautifully against the warm French Oak. 🌳

Each one is individually handcrafted, so the natural grain and markings will vary from board to board — making every Frenchie unique.

🪵 A Little Inspiration From the Wood Yard… ✨

A recent visit to the wood yard had us stopping to admire some seriously beautiful pieces of timber — and naturally, it got the ideas flowing! 💡🦒

From the character of Elm and Yew, to the beautiful tones and grain found in Pear, Plum, Apple and Java Teak, there was plenty to catch our eye. 🌳🤎

One of our favourite parts of working with wood is seeing the incredible variety nature creates. Different species, colours, grain patterns and markings can completely change the character of a finished piece.

We may have left with a little more inspiration than we arrived with… 👀🪵

Who knows which of these woods might make its way into a future Giraffes & Craftz project? 🦒✨
