Hello,
My name Stevie and I had the privilege of being Roy's best friend.
Writing this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Roy's passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. His family, friends, church community, and all those whose lives he touched are struggling to come to terms with the loss of such a special man.
Roy was truly one of a kind.
He was a passionate bird twitcher who could happily spend hours spotting and talking about birds. He loved football, loved spending time with his friends, and never missed an opportunity for a bit of banter. If Roy was in the room, there would always be laughter.
He was a man of faith who loved attending church and had a deep belief in Jesus. His faith was an important part of who he was and how he lived his life.
Roy also had a legendary appetite. Anyone who knew him will smile at the memory of him always going back for another helping. He loved his food and somehow always seemed able to eat more than everyone else put together.
Most importantly, Roy had a huge heart. He cared deeply about people and brought warmth, humour, and friendship wherever he went. His absence is felt by so many.
Today, I am asking for your help on behalf of Roy, friends & family.
With facing the heartbreaking reality of arranging Roy's cremation and funeral. No family should have to worry about how they will say goodbye to a loved one, yet that is the situation they now find themselves in.
Our goal is to raise ten thousand pounds within the next two weeks to cover Roy's cremation costs, funeral and memorial service expenses, and the wake, where family and friends can gather to celebrate Roy's life and share memories.
Any remaining funds will be donated to the family's chosen mental health charity in Roy's memory.
Mental health support is a cause close to the hearts of Roy's loved ones, and it is our hope that through this fundraiser, Roy's legacy can continue by helping others who may be facing their own struggles.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page as widely as possible. Share it with your friends, family, colleagues, church groups, football communities, and across social media. The more people who see Roy's story, the greater our chance of reaching this goal within the next two weeks.
