CRUX CRUX is a small, specialist brand dedicated to developing products specifically for climbing.

The design philosophy is simple - crux products are to be tough, light and functional. Crux is a very small company that focuses on climbing and mountaineering. Although the company is essentially one person, its founder Carol McDermott, it is of course a much bigger entity due to its network of agents & distributors and factories, all of whom play an active role in what the brand is becoming. It

goes without saying that our retailers represent another key link between our small office and the specialist public for whom crux products are made. Our raison d’être is to design, manufacture and sell gear that has been developed purely for climbing. Our market is technical and small - not an obvious recipe for commercial success, which is why so few brands today are truly specialist. Hardware aside, most climbing products represent a compromise that enables them to be sold to a broader market. At crux, we remain absolutely committed to delivering specialist product designed for climbers.

Tom Livingstone and Uisdean Hawthorn have just returned from a seven week trip to the Central Alaska Range. Bad weather thwarted them from success, despite this they made strong attempts on the Bibler Klewin on Mount Hunter and Denali's Slovak Direct.
