Maddison Rocks Floral Sculpture

Maddison Rocks Floral Sculpture Where did it all begin. Well the truth is (between you and me) it all started from a very, very young age. Some say it's a talent, I say its a curse! LOL!

Rebel Wedding Florist Defying Tradition

Themed Faux Flowers, Bouquets
and pocket boutonnières Well some might say I entered the world tightly grasping a glue gun in both hands while others will tell you I'm a complete compulsive creative obsessive! From as far back as I can remember I was always busy sticking, cutting and pasting s

omething, which I hasten to add was to the delight of my family (or so they told me when they received their one legged, one eyed, furry green sock monster for Christmas!)

Fortunately my skills rapidly developed from those early creations and I went on to hone in my talents studying textiles, ceramics, a degree in photography and finally onto gaining an MA in Visual Communications/Photography. After graduating from my MA in 1999, I set up in the retail business with the help of the Princess Trust. During my years with the trust I had the pleasure of owning two retail shops, the first in Piece Hall, Halifax then moving to larger premises on the Rows in Chester. The time spent in retail, manufacturing and selling (handcrafted products) direct to the public (and trade) in both these two outlets helped me develop and fine tune many of my creative skills into producing items to retail within the wedding industry. It was from this starting point that I found my niche market and went onto later transfer my earlier photography background into photographing weddings. Shooting weddings really opened my eyes up to how the industry worked and the expectations of the client (bride & groom). In a lot of instances I felt some weddings we shot lacked lustre and I repeatedly found myself being forced into the role of event dresser rather than photographer. Fast forward five years on and I found myself being drawn more and more back to the Three dimensional creative world rather than the Two dimensions of the photographic image. Although my love of photography will hold always hold a place in my heart, I can't help but find a need to create in a 3 dimensional manner. There is something so strangely satisfying about being able to physically touch something you have created from scratch, that the two dimensions of a flat image just doesn't allow you to do. These days you are most likely to find me absorbed in sourcing eclectic items of beauty for my quirky brooch bouquets and carefully cutting and delicately scouring sheets of card for use in my giant paper flower backdrops than spending hours behind the lens and computer. Its almost as if I've come a very big circle learning and developing new talents and skills along the way, which I hesitate to have made me into the crazy, neurotic (skull obsessed) creative I am today. In the sense that where ever I am, whether it be stuck at the traffic lights or staring into the depths of a fridge I've always got a niggling idea for the next thing I just have to make jumping up and down in the back of my head repeatedly shouting for attention (I can tell you right now this ones going to be a Corker!) xx

Alt Wedding Fair Awards!
Can you flipping believe it? I certainly can't!
Eeeek I'm that flipping shocked and suprised I've come out of hiding to show my face on my insta feed. Which is an extreamly rare occurrence I can tell you lol!
I'm so super stoaked and excited to be a finalist in the florist category of the Awards, (eeek how did that happen?) and would like to say a HUGE Thank you to all of my clients who choose me to be part of their special day and voted, and for the Alt Wedding team for allowing my small business to showcase my weird, wonderful and down right eclectic florals, bouquets, pocket boutonnières and buttonhole designs at their flipping Amazing Wedding Fair

I can't tell you what it means to me (gawd I sound like I'm giving an Oscar speech. Lol)

Fingers crossed to all of my Alt Wedding contemporaries and wish you all the best of luck!
