Beautiful illustrations by the artist Roland Pym - the first image featuring as the cover artwork for 'The Pursuit of Love' by Nancy Mitford [Folio Society Edition, 1991].

The distinct, elegant 1920s/1930s style illustrations appear throughout the book and really capture the roaring twenties.

Roland Vivian Pym (1910 - 2006) was a British painter, illustrator and theatrical designer. Known for his elegant romanticism, Pym's work celebrated fashionable London society as well as country life and drew comparisons to the more prominent rex Whistler. He illustrated several Folio Society volumes late in life; Love in a Cold Climate [1992], English Eccentrics [1994] and Vanity Fair [1996].

Thank you Tynemouth Station Book Fair for a brilliant Book Fair! Met some lovely people, had good weather and said goodbye to some gorgeous books as they went to their new homes.

Now starting to sort out some new interesting and rare volumes for the Book Fair in October - see you all then.

Birds of Britain, published by A. & C. Black, Ltd [1917], Fifth Impression. Beautifull illustrations (100 - full plate) in colour selected by H. E. Dresser from his 'Birds of Europe'. All illustrations collated complete. In the original pictorial cloth binding.

A detailed and comprehensive ornithological study of the birds of Britain, with reference to the habitats, characteristics and song of each individual species and sub-species residing and migrating in the area. Written by John Lewis Bonhote, an English zoologist, ornithologist, and author. Illustrated by Henry Eeles Dresser, an English ornithologist and businessman who collected bird skins and eggs.

Exciting News! Mrs Books will be bringing a wonderful collection of specially curated books to the Tynemouth Station Book Fair on Sunday 16th August. Expect to see scarce editions and unusual volumes; including Whale Hunting, angling and nature, along-side antiquarian and collectable paperbacks.
