We have just had some adidas in and we are really pleased with what has arrived.

The Tensaur is a smart school shoe in leather and synthetic - velcro from size J10 and lace up from 3.5, starting from £28. Proper school appropriate and built to last.

The Runfalcon 6 is in as a trainer in black/white, black/black and dark navy across a good range of sizes and prices, with more colours arriving next week.

Half term and a heatwave. If you need somewhere cool to escape to, we have the aircon on at 62 High Street.

And while you are in, bring the children’s feet. Feet grow so quickly at this age, sometimes half a size in just a few months, and half term is one of the best times of year to get them properly checked.

Sundays are for exploring. We ended up in Wells today, which sits on the Strawberry Line, one of the walks mentioned in our Rieker competition. We did not actually walk the Strawberry Line itself but we wandered around the Bishop’s Palace Gardens and it was just beautiful. If you have never been, it is worth the trip, especially in the glorious sunshine we’ve had today.

We have so many brilliant walk suggestions from the competition to share over the coming weeks and today was a good reminder of just how special this part of the world is for walking.

It's National Walking Month and, after the response to our Rieker competition, we clearly have a community of walkers on our hands.

We've been helping people in Portishead walk comfortably for over 20 years and it's one of the things I love most about this job. The right shoe makes such a difference when you're out on your feet.

If you’re after a great sandal at a really good price, our Lunar range is worth a look and our customers keep coming back to them.

They work for so many different occasions - sparkly options for a wedding or special do, or more neutral styles if you just want something to pop on for a mooch along the seafront. Some flat, some on a wedge.

A lot of them have an elasticated back strap which makes them easy to put on and take off, but holds them on the foot nicely too, and a padded insole for that bit of extra comfort.

One thing to know, they are not the best option for a wider foot (we do have other options).
