🔴⚫️ MEET THE COMMITTEE | 2026/27 ⚫️🔴

Next up in our introduction to the 4th Newtownabbey FC Committee for the 2026/27 season is Committee Member, Stevie Robinson.

Stevie’s association with the 4th goes right back to the very beginning, joining the club in its founding year in 1988.

Across his playing career, Stevie made an incredible 267 appearances, scoring 68 goals. An even more impressive return considering he would eventually go on to play as a goalkeeper!

His contribution to the club continued long after his playing days. Stevie served as Player/Manager and then Manager of the Second Team for 12 years, securing two promotions, before stepping up to take charge of the First Team.

He would spend a further six years as First Team Manager, culminating in another successful chapter for the club as he guided the side to promotion to NAFL Division 2B.

Stevie is quite simply a club legend and someone known by just about everyone connected with the 4th, whether they’ve played alongside him, been managed by him, or simply seen him down watching on matchdays in recent years.

With 38 years of connection to the club, Stevie brings an unrivalled level of experience, history and knowledge to the committee and remains a hugely valued part of 4th Newtownabbey FC.

A true 4th Man ❤️🖤

✍🏻 NEW SIGNING | CALLUM MONTGOMERY ❤️🖤

4th Newtownabbey are delighted to announce that Callum Montgomery has joined the club for the season ahead.

Callum is an energetic and versatile player who can operate in a number of positions across the pitch. He joins us having spent several years with Mossley and Loughside respectively.

We’re delighted to have Callum on board for the season ahead and look forward to seeing him in the red and black. We wish him every success during his time with the club.

🔴⚫️ MEET THE COMMITTEE | 2026/27 ⚫️🔴

Over the coming week or two, we’ll be introducing the people behind the scenes who make up the 4th Newtownabbey FC Committee for the 2026/27 season.

First up is Committee Member, Phil Macauley.

Phil joined the 4th back in 2007, spending four seasons with the club as a player and forming part of the title winning squad in 2008.

Following his playing days, Phil remained heavily involved with the club, assisting both Brian Dickson and Stevie Robinson as First Team Assistant Manager over a number of years. His final spell alongside Stevie proved a successful one, helping guide the club to promotion to NAFL Division 2B in their final season together.

Affectionately known as “Wee Mac”, Phil remains an integral member of the committee, bringing plenty of experience and plenty of laughs to the table.

He’s also still an avid supporter from the sidelines whenever his work schedule allows him!

Everyone at 4th Newtownabbey would like to wish club stalwart Matthew Purdy a speedy recovery following a shoulder injury sustained in yesterday’s pre-season fixture against Queens U21/2nds.

The injury occurred around the 80-minute mark, but in true Purdy fashion, Matthew battled on and saw the game out, a real reflection of the character and commitment he brings to the club.

Matthew has been outstanding throughout pre-season and has impressed in every game, making his absence a huge blow as we prepare for the season ahead.

We wish you a speedy recovery, Purdy, and look forward to seeing you back in the red & black very soon. ❤️🖤

NEW APPOINTMENT | Stephen ‘Beaver’ Coppen ❤️🖤

Andy Green has completed his backroom staff for the season ahead with the addition of Stephen ‘Beaver’ Coppen.

4th Newtownabbey are delighted to announce that Stephen will join the First Team coaching staff for the 2026/27 season.

A well-known figure within the local amateur game, Beaver brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having enjoyed a 20-year playing career across a number of clubs.

Stephen also brings proven managerial experience, having taken over as Mossley Reserves manager after previously serving as assistant to Andy Green. He led the side to the 3B title, overseeing an impressive unbeaten 14-game run to secure the championship.

Securing Stephen’s services is a fantastic addition for the club, and we’re delighted to have him on board. We look forward to seeing the big man pacing the touchline and playing his part in what promises to be an exciting season ahead.

We wish Beaver every success in his new role.

We’re delighted to have officially hit 1,000 followers on the club page in the recent weeks! 🔴⚫️

Growing 4th Newtownabbey both on and off the pitch has been a big part of the club’s plans, and reaching this milestone is another sign that we’re continuing to move in the right direction.

Throughout pre-season, we made the decision to keep match results off social media as the focus remained firmly on preparations, getting minutes into players and building towards the competitive season.
