Above a working recording studio on a Loughton industrial estate, SLAB Records is a proper crate-digger's destination in this corner of Essex. Founded in 2018 by James Horwood, its racks hold well over 10,000 mostly second-hand records spanning rock, soul, jazz, reggae and beyond, refreshed constantly by collections bought right across the UK.

Expect honest grading, a relaxed, no-pressure welcome, mystery packs for the adventurous, free on-site parking and a late Tuesday opening made for after-work digging.
