What is your home really made of?
We often think about how our homes look: the colors, the textures, the furniture, the light. But less often, we pause to ask what the things around us are actually made from.
The basket by the sofa. The bedding we sleep in. The board we prepare food on. The lamp above the table. These everyday pieces quietly shape not only the way our home feels, but also the kind of environment we live in.
Plastic has become so common that we barely notice it anymore. Yet it is a material that does not simply disappear when we are done with it. It can linger, break down, and remain in the world long after its use is over. Inside the home, it can also feel disconnected from the natural, grounded spaces many of us are trying to create.
Plastic Free Day is an invitation to slow down and look more closely.
Not with guilt. Not with perfection. But with intention.
What if more of the objects we touched every day were made from materials that came from the earth and could return to it? Linen, wood, ceramic, wool, moss, rattan, seagrass, stone. Materials with texture, warmth, breathability, and life.
A handwoven basket. Linen bedding. A wooden serving board. A ceramic light. Natural wall decor that brings greenery indoors. These are not just decorative choices. They are small shifts toward a home that feels cleaner, calmer, and more connected.
Going plastic-free does not mean changing everything at once. It starts with noticing. Then, little by little, choosing pieces that feel better to live with. For your body, your home, and the planet.
A more natural home is not about perfection.
It is about paying attention.
