Light has the ability to transform how we experience a space, revealing architectural details, enhancing natural materials and creating moments of warmth throughout the home.

Our lighting design for Leaf House in the Cotswolds has been shortlisted in the Lighting Design Scheme category at the design et al International Design & Architecture Awards 2026.

From subtle architectural illumination to carefully considered layers of ambient light, the scheme was designed to complement the character of the residence and enhance the way each space is experienced.

A bar this glamorous comes with a lighting problem most people never think about: reflection.

In this London home, designed with Hill House Interiors, the formal drawing room’s bar is a showstopping focal point, built for entertaining, finished in high-gloss stone, polished worktops, and a mirrored splashback. Beautiful, but tricky: every one of those surfaces reflects light, and so does every bottle on display.

Our solution was precision over power. Tiny pin spots of light were used to accent the bottles individually, resulting in almost no reflection at all, while frosted LED strips were tucked deep into the shelving, positioned out of the sightline so the light source itself disappears completely.

The result is a bar that reads as effortlessly glamorous: glowing exactly where it should, with none of the glare that a space this reflective could easily have fallen into.

It’s proof that the best lighting design is often the kind you don’t notice. You just notice how good the room feels.

Some staircases connect floors. This one connects the entire home.

In this London residence, designed with Hill House Interiors, the staircase forms the architectural heart of the house: a dramatic circular void that links every level. Our challenge was to make each floor feel visually connected through light, while still giving each space its own independent control.

A sculptural pendant installation anchors the space and draws your eye upward the moment you arrive. Integrated light follows the curve of the stair treads as they wrap through the house, quietly emphasizing the form and materiality of the architecture itself.

Illuminated niches placed throughout the stairwell and hallways create focal points that strengthen the visual connection between floors. Soft uplighting backlights the sculptures on display, narrow-beam downlights add precise accents from above, and concealed lighting beneath the stone plinths creates a floating effect; an unexpected sense of lightness against such a solid material palette.

This is what we mean when we say lighting design is architecture: it’s not decoration added at the end; it’s built into how a space is experienced.

In the primary bedroom of this Palm Jumeirah apartment, the lighting scheme shifts toward something quieter and more intimate.

Contour LED strip lighting extends into the bedroom joinery and headboard, creating a gentle, inviting glow that lasts well into the evening, while decorative pendants suspended above the seating area and bedside bring a sculptural, elegant touch to the room.

Within this sophisticated Palm Jumeirah apartment, the living space was designed to feel connected to the kitchen, dining and home cinema beyond, while still holding its own distinct identity after dark.

Polespring 40 and Polespring 30 downlights create a consistent lighting effect throughout the open-plan space, while Minim fittings accentuate the room’s exquisite textured wall. Contour HD27 illuminates the fireplace, creating a warm, captivating focal point, while striking decorative pendants from Haberdashery’s Bloom and Sand & Sea collections bring sparkle and craftsmanship overhead.

Senior Lighting Designer Elaine Hernandez led the scheme, working closely with interior designers NŌN.

Inside this award-winning Kuala Lumpur residence, the brief centred on one thing above all: the client's art collection.

Previously left in darkness, each piece was brought to life through a fully re-commissioned lighting scheme, adding depth throughout the home and creating what felt like a journey through the artwork itself. Low-level, fully dimmable scenes keep the scheme subtle to the architecture, while allowing key moments in each room to hold more drama, and the connection between spaces to feel fluid.

This award-winning Kuala Lumpur residence shows how exterior lighting can enhance a landscape without ever overwhelming it.

The facade is brought to life with dramatic uplighting to the balustrades, while the surrounding landscaping is highlighted after dark in a way that feels considered rather than theatrical. The result leans into a resort-like quality, allowing the estate to blend naturally into Malaysia's lush, jungle-like surroundings rather than standing apart from them.

In this elegant North London home, designed by Hill House Interiors under Lead Designer Hazel Park, light is worked directly into the joinery and architecture, so it's felt everywhere, but rarely seen.

In the living room, a lit coffer and uplit window reveals bring depth to the ceiling and walls, while a spotlit coffee table and lit artwork draw focus to smaller, considered details.

The drawing room bar is one of the home's glamorous focal points. With a material palette of polished worktops, metal backdrops and a mirrored splashback, tiny Minim pin spots pick out the bottles with minimal reflection, while frosted Contour LED strips are tucked deep into the shelves, out of view.

Through the hallways and stairwell, illuminated niches created with Lucca uplights and precise Polespring 30 downlights guide the eye between floors, while Etta Eyelids concealed beneath stone plinths give the joinery a subtle floating effect.

Every detail was worked out in close collaboration with joiners Harry James and contractor Griggs Homes, ensuring not a single light source disrupted the home's clean architectural lines.
