At Palava, we believe in doing things differently — designing joyful, bold pieces that are made to last, not follow trends. Every item is crafted from natural fibres, often made to order, and produced as locally as possible (yes, even the fabric!). Our mission? To prove that sustainability can be beautiful, that craftsmanship matters, and that community is at the heart of everything we do. Every print starts with a sketch.
For our Tennis print, Bryony began by looking at vintage tennis rackets. Their shapes, colours and worn handles became the starting point for the design.
From there came the sketches.
Then the print.
Then the dresses, shirts and knitwear.
These photos show a little of that journey, from the first sketch to the finished design.
And yes, you could say those vintage rackets got the ball rolling. 🎾

What goes into a Palava photoshoot?
Checklists, rails of clothing, armfuls of props, moving furniture around, adjusting collars, carrying cakes across gardens, all whilst chasing the next shot.
We always try to keep the shoots feeling light and fun, and hope that energy comes through in the final photos too.
It’s always a team effort, all to help show the clothes as they really feel in real life.

Our Wool Blanket Project pouches have been restocked ✨
Made at the Hatchery, these little pouches are part of our ongoing mission to use what we already have and waste nothing.
Created using leftover wool blanket offcuts and saved fabrics, each one is made from materials that might otherwise have been overlooked.
The Wool Blanket Project started as a way of exploring recycling, reuse, and British wool, and we’ve loved finding ways to keep the project going right down to the very smallest scraps.
Nothing at Palava is ever considered “just waste”.

Congratulations to this week’s winner 💚
We absolutely loved this wonderfully pickle-themed outfit. Stefie paired her Pickle Florence skirt with a matching pickle top and green cardigan, and the result made the whole team smile.
You could say she found herself in a bit of a pickle... but a very stylish one. 🥒

Do you know how we choose each print in the collection?
Long before any piece reaches the website, we’re gathered around tables and floors covered in fabric samples, debating colours and illustrations, moving prints from one pile to another, and trying to decide which ones you’d most like to see made into products.
One of the things that makes Palava special is that it isn’t just Bryony making those decisions. The whole team gets involved. We all share our opinions, ideas, and favourites, collaborating to shape the collection.
Sometimes we agree immediately.
Sometimes we don’t.
And occasionally, Rodney steps in to offer his expertise too. Although we’re still not entirely convinced his fabric selection process is the most refined.
These photos are from one of those meetings. A room full of possibilities, plenty of discussion, and the very beginnings of the collection you see today.

One of the things we’re proudest of at Palava is knowing the people who make our clothes.
Here we have some of our SS26 pieces being made by the wonderful team at Golden Touch, a factory we’ve worked with for years.
Making clothing is never a one-person job. It takes cutters, machinists, quality controllers, pattern cutters and countless skilled hands working together to turn an idea into something you can wear.
This little glimpse behind the scenes is a thank you to the people who make that happen every day.
Because great clothes don’t appear by magic.
They’re made by people.
