Look within

When asked what's his favourite adinkra symbol, customer chose the 'sankofa'.
The classic symbol features a bird with its feet forward and its head looking back, representing the importance of learning lessons from the past in order to move forward. It usually refers to ancestral culture and heritage but explains that the principle can also be applied to our daily lives: taking the time to look inside (our 'internal past') can help us to obtain guidance and find answers.

Today is probably (hair) wash day for some of you, in preparation for the week ahead. A current fave in the shop is the book 'How To Love Your Afro' by author, presenter and natural hair advocate .

We love the psychological insights as well as the useful practical advice. A really good, uplifting book for anyone who's struggling with beauty comparisonitis, self-acceptance and feeling like they're not enough.

○ Isn't this reverse racism?

○ Why is there nothing for white people?
○ Why does shopping have to be about race?
○ Yeah but who REALLY owns the business?
