On September 25, 1969 Jimi Hendrix was joined by Buddy Miles at the Record Plant where they recorded this stunning take of
“Room Full Of Mirrors,” a song he had revisited several times extending to sessions in August
1968. This new take on an old theme, although unrehearsed, featured a faster pace, punchier drums and a short burst of “Message To Love” in the mix for good measure.

“I used to live in a room full of mirrors. All I could see was me. Then I take my spirit and I smash my mirrors - and now the whole world is here for me to see...” 🪞🎸

The Stones hosted the Rock and Roll Circus in December 1968, performing alongside an all-star lineup that also featured the Who, Yoko Ono, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull and the impromptu supergroup the Dirty Mac, comprising John Lennon, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell and Eric Clapton. Director Michael Lindsay-Hogg filmed the performance for a planned BBC special, though it never aired due to Brian Jones’ departure from the band and eventual death soon after (the show marked his last public performance with the Stones). It wasn’t until 1996 that Rock and Roll Circus was officially released.

Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones performs live on stage on the set of the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus at Intertel TV Studio in Wembley, London on 11th December 1968.

“The Stones will perform quite soon. What I want to do is have a show for young people which is not just pop stars coming on stage singing their latest recordings. I want it to include all kinds of acts- a stage show – except at the end we’ll go round on a revolving stage, leaping about for an hour to make up for the Palladium. Oh, and the ice creams will all have acid in them – that’s my brother’s idea! I suppose we could take an elephant on stage and break that up!” - Mick Jagger
