🧵✨ Our Sewing Workshops & Clothes Swaps are coming back soon!

Learn practical sewing skills with Fran, including how to use a sewing machine, take clothes in or let them out, shorten, lengthen, or transform pieces that don't quite fit anymore.

Alongside the workshop, there'll be a clothes swap, giving your wardrobe a refresh without the cost.

Before we launch, we need your help...

📍 Where should we host them?

We're looking at venues in St Helens and Prescot, and we'd love to know which location works best for you.

📢 It’s really important that you notify the council if your circumstances change as it could affect certain discounts you’re entitled to. For example, you can receive a discount of 25% to your Council Tax bill if you are the sole occupier in your property.

📩 To ensure the council has accurate information about residents who are claiming a sole occupier discount, letters will be sent out from 8 June 2026 asking them to confirm their details.

✅ The 25% sole occupancy discount can be claimed where there is only one adult aged 18 or over living at a property. If you have a partner, tenant, lodger or relative who has moved in, even on a temporary basis, you need to notify the council. Also, if your child has turn 18, this also means your circumstances have changed.

💻 The letter will include instructions on how to complete the online declaration form. If you are unable to use the online form, please contact the council on 0151 443 4476 between 9am to 4.45pm, Monday to Friday.
