TESCO UPDATE
Following a review of the feedback we received during our public consultation, we have decided not to progress plans to build a new store in Leiston. Unfortunately it is not possible to build a store in the town that would best serve our customers. We are grateful to all those who took part in the consultation, whether it was to voice their support or share concerns about the plans. We value all the comments we received and would like to thank everyone who showed an interest in our work in Leiston.

TESCO TAKES MORE TIME TO LISTEN IN LEISTON
Tesco has today announced that it has temporarily withdrawn its planning application for a new store in Leiston. The company wants more time to listen to the community to ensure the plans are the best possible proposals for the town. However, Tesco is committed to investing in Leiston and will continue to engage with local residents before resubmitting its planning application. Please continue to let us know why you would like to see a Tesco in Leiston.

Leiston Town Council will be holding a public meeting to discuss Tesco’s application to build a new store on Abbey Road. Show your support by coming along and letting councillors know how you feel – your views are vital if the plans are to be successful.

Having consulted closely with local residents, we are pleased to announce that we have now submitted our plans to Suffolk Coastal District Council. We are delighted with the level of support received and are excited about the opportunity to invest in Leiston. If successful, 180 new full & part-time jobs would be created in-store, with our aim to recruit locally. Tesco's Martlesham Personnel Manager, Angela Weeks, was on hand to explain the benefits of working for Tesco.
