I’d like to shout from the rooftops about one of my favourite people in the world, Oscar from Oscar Stafford

Oscar curated a whole gallery event on behalf of Leeds Tarot Social at henrymooreinstitute with a volunteer team which included incredibly talented local tarot reader/mystics Thea Ayres Tarot and Maritza Carrasco and using the Leeds Tarot Card Project deck. This is an enormous undertaking, and a hugely successful and thought provoking merging of occultists with the digital age, particularly giving thought to AI, which like tarot people often use as a tool for self discovery and idea/solution generation.

I cannot begin to understand how much hard work was put in, but to pull this together in such a meaningful way was fantastic. Beyond that, to secure arts based funding in this economy, on behalf of our small and marginalised group who have had to fight to create space, who are largely disabled either physically or in terms of neurodivergence, who lack means and who often lack access to the arts, is enormous.

Enormous thanks to Oscar, may your whimsy and bravery always prevail as they did today. To take an idea like this and make a sell out event of such calibre is rare! You’re bloody amazing! And also thanks to Thea whose words and mind are timeless and exquisite, and to Ritza for your years of talent and devotion to the tarot, and how you continue to inspire us all with it.

Hello,
I’ve had a boom in enquiries this week! I’m not currently offering readings, as I have a cardiac issue which makes getting out unsupervised hard, and unpredictable. Battling the fatigue, dizziness and pain is not something I expected in my early 30’s— and it has big time interrupted my summer camping dreams with Gertrude!

I’m using my time currently very close to home, preparing to return to uni and take the long haul of work ing toward a research role in the field of disabilities. Which I hope will fit alongside my role at Pawsitive Action Leeds CIC , supporting disabled dog owners to train their own assistance dogs, like I did with Dizzy! I’m delighted that our flagship gallery event has sold out, within hours of tickets being released. Our amazing facilitator has curated this on behalf of in collaboration with the renowned henrymooreinstitute

Participants will come to the Henry Moore Institute for an evening of conversation and creativity, exploring the exhibition Phantasmagoria: Folkloric Sculpture for the Digital Age through the lens of Tarot.
They be introduced to the fundamentals of Tarot, then set out on a treasure hunt around the galleries to discover links between the artworks and a card from the Tarot deck. Guided by members of Leeds Tarot Social, we’ll discuss the symbols, themes and archetypes found in Tarot and how these connect to the exhibition, which combines themes of folklore and digital culture.
The group will then venture to the Studio space to continue the discussion and make our own creative responses, using collage and assemblage to design our own Tarot card which fuses the symbols and archetypes we’ve explored with digital culture.

I whipped the Lenormand deck out today. This deck was actually the first pack of cards I owned! They are read only in pairs. I usually do smaller horizontal layouts, or grid like portrait spreads and grand tableau’s. Today I wondered what would happen if I tried a smaller grid, allowing for more pairings than a typical 5 card layout.

This allows you to read multiple paths:
• Read the cards and list individual words that come to mind for that card

• Start at the top left and read all the cards clockwise, working on reflecting and mirroring the cards as you go

• Read the top pair as the conscious world— thoughts, goals, ideas.

• Read the bottom pair as the soul space, the inner world— feelings, emotions, subconscious influences, what sits deep in your gut.

•Read the left hand pair as the past, and the right hand pair as the future, or “now and later”.

•Read the X shape for additional info.

This reading resonates so well! Hope you enjoy this little technique!

Finally nearly finished with investigations into my super low heart rate!
I have to have a tilt table test in July, then hopefully I’ll begin getting treatment, and actually enjoying life outside of my lil bubble! It’s been a long and dizzy ride, and though swinging in my hammock, playing my recorder, and doing macrame with my fostered pigeon is lush, I can’t wait to feel safe out and about again 🖤🦇🔮
