Why not buy a stunning piece of lingerie which is just for a stoma, ostomy? To give back the confidence that a stoma, ostomy is not the end of the world. So a little about me, I was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in June 2013. I didn't fit the profile to having this but I was so lucky that I had a GP who looked beyond my age just my limited symptoms. I was not really ill, tried now and again, on off bleeding and a pain in my side. At the time NHS was promoting that your symptoms needed to be for three weeks, mine were not. After treatments and surgeries, one being a reversal. I was left with limited control of my bowel. This I just couldn't live with this, there was a lot of thought over whether I should have an ileostomy. After the last surgery I started looking for beautiful, elegant and sexy lingerie. To my surprise I could not find the right material or designs. There was the medical model which does have it's place just not in my lingerie draw. Plus they were made with man made materials which made my body sticky and sore. So Unspoken Rosebud was set up. My first shop is on Etsy. There is a Facebook group stoma, ostomy whatabag which I have started to give a more inclusive approach to information. The plan is to have useful information in ome easy place to use and a safe place to share.

When the doctors told me I needed a stoma, ostomy, I wasn’t happy. Not even a little bit.

I didn’t wake up thinking,
“Do you know what would make today special? A bag on my tummy!” 😅

But I had to look at the bigger picture.

My bowel needed time to heal after cancer surgery. Later, after radiotherapy damage, I had to face another decision. Stay stuck at home, worried about accidents and pain… or have the stoma, ostomy and get some freedom back.

So I asked myself one simple question:
What kind of life do I actually want?

I wanted to go out when I felt like it.
Eat without fear.
And stop spending hours on the loo with a very sore bum!

Sometimes the decision isn’t about what you want… it’s about what will give you the best life in the long run.

If this sounds familiar, not sure what to do next DM me and let’s talk

😳✈️”

I thought I was fully prepared for my trip…
Turns out, my stoma, ostomy had other ideas 😅

I packed everything (or so I believed).
But when it came time to change my bag… the fl**ge just wouldn’t stick.

Old stock. Rookie mistake.

And in that moment, panic kicked in.
That heat, that stress, that “what now?” feeling we all know too well.

Thankfully, I wasn’t far from home, so I did a quick dash back, grabbed fresh supplies, and sorted it.

Lesson learned the hard way…

👉 Always pack MORE than you need
👉 Always check your supplies are fresh
👉 Always plan for peace of mind, not perfection

Because here’s the truth:
Living with a stoma, ostomy isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about being prepared and kind to yourself when things don’t go to plan.

And yes… sometimes your bag will keep you humble 😂

But don’t let that stop you from living.

Travel, laugh, explore, your life is still yours to enjoy 💛

Living with a stoma, ostomy is not just a physical change.
It’s emotional.
It’s mental.
It touches every part of your life.

And sometimes, the hardest part is feeling like no one really understands what you’re going through.

People mean well.
They try to say the right things.
But if they haven’t lived it, there is often a gap.

A gap between advice and true understanding.

That’s why I specialist in mentoring, therapy, and coaching to. As you may be aware, that I have an ileostomy following bowel cancer. I worked in the health and social care field for many years and I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist to boot.

Because when the person supporting you also lives with a stoma, ostomy, you don’t have to explain every fear or awkward moment. They already know. They’ve been there too.

That shared understanding creates trust.
And trust creates confidence.
And confidence helps you start living again, not just coping.

Did your world feel smaller after your stoma, ostomy surgery?

Mine did.

For a while I focused on everything I couldn't do.

Then something changed.

I started focusing on what I could do.

A short walk became a day out.

A day out became a weekend away.

A weekend away became a holiday.

Little by little my confidence returned.

Sometimes the biggest adventures start with the smallest steps.

Where has your stoma, ostomy taken you that you never thought possible?

When we stay in the same environment every day, our minds often stay focused on our worries.

Travelling changes that.

New places.
New sounds.
New experiences.

Suddenly your brain has something else to focus on besides your stoma, ostomy.

Plus you have to put some planning into this so it gives you a new focus.

Many people tell me they feel lighter, happier and more confident after a trip.

Sometimes a change of scenery creates a change of mindset too.

Have you experienced this?

Nobody really talks about the quiet part after stoma, ostomy surgery.

The part where the world keeps moving, but you feel like you’re standing still.

My family cared deeply — my husband was juggling work stress and trying to support me, my son was raising three little boys, and my daughter helped me more than she knows. But even with love around me… I still felt lonely.

Not because I was alone.

But because no one could truly understand what I was feeling.

Recovery isn’t just physical. It’s emotional. It’s identity-shifting. It’s confusing.

And then one day a friend said something simple:

“I forget you even have a stoma, ostomy.”

And that stayed with me.

Because it reminded me — I am still me.

Not just surgery. Not just illness. Not just recovery.

Me.

💛 If you’ve felt this too, you’re not broken. You’re human.
