Ive was diagnosed with cyclothymia over 10 years ago and have been medicated for longer. I took myself off of employment support (when that was even a thing because you dont get that anymore as a new claiment) and have been employed part time now since just before i came off the benifit. I am doing much better but i still remember what it was like. Depression/anxiety is a huge problem for daily life but if you dont have a diagnosis for a well known illness then you get treated as though you are lazy and its all your own fault. People often say "why are you depressed?" Or "you have no reason to be sad".... thats kind of the point. I am depressed because its illogical. If i had a reason to be sad it wouldnt be depression it would be sadness. The way people talk about people that USED to be given 6k a year to live on because of thier mental health is disgaceful, and dont forget your tax doesnt go to depressed people anymore in most cases as they stripped the benifit. So next time you see sally and her 3 dogs on channel 4 having a fag and smiling, dont forget that rishi and starmers 100000k paycheck is funded by that same tax money and ask yourself who you should be angry at.
