Introduction to Floristry: FAQ

🌿 Can I join as a complete beginner?
Absolutely. Booking this class is your very first step into the world of flowers. No prior experience is needed.

🌿 Do I need to bring any tools or materials?
No, just your enthusiasm. I provide all the fresh flowers, tools, and materials you will need.

🌿 Will I get hands-on experience with flowers?
Yes. You will learn the spiral technique and wrap your hand-tied bouquet. Best of all, your beautiful creation is yours to take home.

🌿 Will it help me understand the floral industry?
Yes. Although this is an 'intro', you will gain an overview of the industry to help you decide if a career in floristry is right for you and even explore where you wish to 'bloom'.

🌿 How large are the class sizes?
The class is kept small, with a maximum of four students. This ensures an intimate setting where you can receive personalised attention.

🌿 What are the next steps after completing the class?
I hope you stay in touch, and I can continue to support you on your floral journey. You may return anytime for classes to build your skills and confidence or book a tailored 1:1 session with me to focus on your specific goals.

Please allow me to reintroduce myself 💚

You can call me Lisa or Nettie—I answer to both! I’m a proud, original Black Country lass, living right here in beautiful Ironbridge.

My professional floristry journey began back in 2015, operating out of a cosy cottage on a Staffordshire strawberry farm after 'playing with flowers' since attending my first college course in 2007. By 2020, after moving to the Gorge, I took the leap into a dedicated floral studio and opened my high street shop.

I’ve always trusted my vision. Last year, I stuck to my 5-year plan there and gave two months' notice on my shop—without having a backup premises lined up! I just had faith that the right space would appear.

Enter Maws Craft Centre, a place that has always held a special spot in my heart. A fellow artist reached out, and by August 2025, I officially had the keys to my dream space.

Moving here allowed me to open my flower school and streamline the business. Most importantly, it has given me back precious family time and a much healthier work-life balance.

I'm so grateful that you are part of my journey! 🌿

I’m looking ahead to the golden season and looking back to my original golden boy, the OG 🤎

Because my fresh autumn wreath date was so popular, I’ve just added a new date for the 3rd October. I have also added a brand-new dried flower wreath workshop to the website for 26th September. 🍂

Pictured here is Rudie, who lived to the golden age of 16 and loved coming to work with me. Now little Rufus has some big paws to fill, but he’s doing a wonderful job so far! 🤞

It was a wonderful afternoon at the school as they stepped up their techniques to create stunning asymmetry, honouring space and giving those beautiful Shropshire blooms the respect they truly deserve.

One year has flown by ❤️

Since I handed over the keys to my beautiful studio shop on Ironbridge High St to streamline my business. It was such a blessing and a huge part of my journey. I'm grateful that I've managed to maintain the connections made. I love that my daily dog walks still turn into catch-ups with old trader friends, and my regular customers have now become wonderful coffee dates.

Embracing a slower intentional pace at Maws has allowed me to invest deeply in delivering high-quality, personable workshops and classes designed to be affordable and accessible.

My little flower school was growth, created to nurture yours!

Getting out early with Rufus. The poor thing had his 'op' last week, so a little break from being a 'cone head' was much welcomed.

Just a 30 minute stroll in this beautiful place we call home and a quick glance of Suzanna and Rocky on their way home, a morning chat with Sam and Frank, oh then Rufus sees Stan, Dot and George on their way to the old railway for a run and desperately tries to join the pack 🙈
