Thank you to everyone who responded to the post yesterday announcing the job opening.
I thought it would be good to put more details about what the role involves.
The role would require excellent hygiene levels and ideally a Level 2 certificate in food hygiene for retail.
There are 20 hours of work available which must include Tuesday 12-5pm and Thursday 12-5pm. Also, the ability to cover extra hours for holiday leave is essential.
You would be responsible for running the deli counter, fruit and veg and dry goods areas of the shop. Keeping stock replenished, checking for out of date stock, keeping work surfaces, floors and shelving clean and tidy. You would need to place orders each afternoon for fresh veg and fruit and dairy so would need to be able to identify what was required and communicate clearly with our suppliers.
The deli counter involves using a meat slicer and keeping the slicer clean after use. Training will be given on this piece of equipment.
You would need basic maths skills to convert between lbs and Kg as a lot of our customers do not ask for goods in Kg and also to work out basic percentages.
You would be responsible for operating the till and card machine, taking payment for all goods in either cash or card payment.
End of day checks would include taking and recording fridge and freezer temperatures, cleaning all equipment to a high standard. Manoeuvring the veg wheelbarrows into the shop.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly, family run business who go above and beyond for our customers. You would need to work to this ethic.
I hope this helps anyone who is interested in the role. ☺️
