Have you ever bought a plant only for it to die a few weeks later despite following care instructions? You could have a case of hydrophobic soil - where the low quality peat-based compost the plant is grown in compacts and dries up so much it literally repels water, meaning your watering isn’t flowing through the soil to reach the roots.
