Sew-er, Sewist, or something totally different, what are we calling ourselves these days….

👇 lets us know, and we’ll share the general consensus

17/06/2026

🚨 Don’t buy a sewing machine. Buy the support that comes with it.

We know that’s a very bold statement, but hear us out.

A sewing machine isn’t just a purchase. It’s the start of a very exciting journey. One that’s filled with exciting projects, new skills, and moments where you need someone to ask, “Am I doing this right?” or “How do I make this happen”

That’s where we come in.

When you buy a machine from us here at Sew Confident, you’re not buying from salespeople reading from a script. You’re buying from women who sew.

Women who teach sewing every week.
Women who use these machines themselves.
Women who know the difference between the machine you want and the machine you actually need.
That’s why we’ll never try to upsell you into something bigger, fancier, or more expensive if it isn’t right for you.

✨ We’ll always price match.
✨ We’ll help you find the right machine for your sewing goals.
✨ We’ll offer ongoing support after your purchase.
✨ We’ll be here online and in person when you need help building your confidence.

Because the truth is, the best sewing machine isn’t the most expensive one. It’s the one that helps you enjoy sewing more.

If you’re thinking about your first machine, an upgrade, or simply want some honest advice, send us a message or pop into the studio.

We’ll help you find your perfect match.

Okay honesty is the best policy 🥰

Let us know what sewing technique you avoid the most when it comes to sewing…

Mine is 100% buttonholes, but it’s on my to tackle list for 2026 🙌

Sewing isn’t hard. It’s just hard when no one shows you how

With the right teacher, the right project and the right support, everything clicks, confidence grows, skills build and suddenly you’re thinking… oh, I can do this.

That’s exactly what we do.

We’re here with monthly projects, clear guidance, live teaching and a community that’s got your back every step of the way. No pressure. No overwhelm. Just learning, sewing and feeling proud of what you’ve made.

If sewing has ever felt out of reach… maybe you just haven’t found the right teacher yet.

How about you give us a try?

If a Baby Lock overlocker has been sitting on your sewing wish list, this is your sign to start thinking seriously about it.

Honestly, we’re constantly blown away by just how user-friendly these machines are.

No complicated threading.
No frustration.
No wondering if you’ve threaded the loopers correctly.

Just the magic of Baby Lock’s incredible air-threading system that makes setting up your overlocker quicker and easier than you ever thought possible.

If you’re new to overlocking or you’re looking to upgrade, these machines are designed to make sewing more enjoyable and help you spend less time setting up and more time creating.

🚨 Important heads up! 🚨

Baby Lock prices will be increasing in July, so if you’ve been considering investing in one, now is the perfect time to explore your options before the increase takes effect.

Want to know:
🧵 Which machines are affected?

🚨 Things Every Sewist Thinks Makes Them Bad At Sewing - Part 1

Using a seam ripper.

Yep, we’re going to be starting there! and honestly she’s m,y favourite piece of equipment.

But hear me out, somewhere along the line, we have convinced ourselves that if we were “good” at sewing, we’d never need to unpick anything.

But let’s be honest...REAL honest

The seam ripper isn’t proof you’ve failed. It’s proof you’re sewing! doesnt that sound better already!

Every experienced sewist has sewn things on backwards, stitched the wrong seam, attached sleeves inside out, and confidently sewn half a garment before realising they’ve missed an important step.

The difference? They just reach for the seam ripper and carry on.

We see it every day in classes. Beginners use them. Advanced sewists use them. Tutors use them, its a way of sewing life.

In fact, if your seam ripper is getting some use, we’d argue that’s a sign you’re learning, trying new things, and actually making projects.

So here’s your reminder:

🧵 Using a seam ripper does not make you bad at sewing.
🧵 It makes you a sewist.

Now let’s get into some classic unpicking stories, what’s the biggest thing you’ve ever had to unpick?

If you’ve been thinking about learning crochet, consider this your sign.

Crochet is one of the biggest fibre crafts around right now, and honestly, we can’t schedule classes quickly enough to keep up with demand!

And we totally get why.

It’s relaxing, portable, creative, and the perfect excuse to put your phone down for a couple of hours and enjoy some screen-free time.

Whether you’re in the garden, on holiday, commuting, or curled up on the sofa, crochet is a skill you can take anywhere.

In our Beginners Crochet Class, you’ll learn all the basics you need to get started and leave with the skills to create a granny square, the building block of so many crochet projects.

Blankets, bags, garments, accessories... it all starts with that first square.
