This is not what we like to see! 😬

One of four Shimano Longcast reels stripped down for servicing, and it's absolutely packed with what looks like thick, tar-like cheap multipurpose grease. No wonder these reels felt stiff and heavy to reel!

A full clean-out and proper re-grease will make a world of difference to the smoothness and performance of this reel.

If your reel feels rough, sluggish, or unusually stiff, it might be worth taking a look inside. 🎣
