Beer beach 😍

Beer beach is a popular sheltered cove just around the corner from Sidmouth. Backed by high (and geologically important!) limestone cliffs this south facing beach is a veritable suntrap.

The beach itself is shingle and towards high tide can shelve quite steeply into deep water. This makes it great for swimming, but means you need to keep an eye on children.

Beer is a working beach with brightly coloured fishing boats pulled up on the beach. The are crab pots, nets and winches are not just there to add a little charm; they are part of the small but active fishing fleet. If you'd like to do something a little more active than watch the catch being landed you can either take one of the mackerel fishing trips from the beach or even hire a small motor launch.

When did you last go? πŸ™‚πŸ’¬ Set in a beautiful location overlooking the sea at the tip of Plymouth Hoe and voted one of the top 10 best outdoor pools in Europe, Tinside Lido is an attraction not to be missed.

Built in 1935, Tinside is a slice of the quintessential British seaside from a bygone era. The Lido is a wonderful example of art-deco style and is Grade II listed. As well as the pool itself, the facility also features a sun deck, which is one of the best places in Plymouth to soak up the sun β˜€οΈ

Set into a steep hillside, Clovelly is one of the best known and most unusual villages in the North Devon. The cobbled high street winds its way down the hillside through traditional 16th century whitewashed cottages decked with fuchsias and geraniums. This street drops 400ft in the half mile down to the small harbour.

Visitors have to park at the top of the hill next to the Heritage Centre as traffic is banned from the high street. There is a Land Rover service which ferries visitors up and down via a back road, for those not wishing to negotiate the steep hill on foot. This service takes visitors as far as the Red Lion beside the harbour. At one time, donkeys used to be used to take visiting tourists down into the village, but these have now been retired.
