Today in 1944 this watch was on a landing craft, this was Juno Beach on D-Day, the owner a Canadian soldier serving with the Queens Own Rifles, he was an artillery spotter, he landed at Bernières-Sur-Mer in the first wave, the landing craft hit a mine and all the soldiers had to evacuate and as he described jumped into the water which came up to his chin, holding his rifle in one hand and his surveying equipment in the other. The watch currently in our workshop being repaired is a c.1939 Rolex Raleigh Military style watch. What a story ! Every Watch has a story, but some really are part of history !
