The first week of the shop in Dornoch has been fantastic! The people we've met, the stories we've heard, the amazing reactions to our shop - thank you for coming in! Days filled with smiles, chats and packing lots of candles. 🥰

​We wanted to create a space where the fast-paced world stops at the door, and seeing you all wander around our shop with a glass of fizz, chatting away, exploring our collection of candles and the work of our makers was pure joy.

Two weeks - that's how long until we open the doors here in Dornoch! ✨️ We’ve been quietly tending to the details to make sure Gold Moss is more than just a candle shop. We’re creating a space for you to slow down and stay a while, and we can’t wait to finally show you what’s inside.

Was I renovating a 140-year-old building while seven months pregnant? Absolutely. 🙈 My husband, Will, and I have always been a team that thrives on a challenge, but when the dream of opening a Gold Moss shop in Dornoch became a reality, our motivation hit a whole new level.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
​The building sat empty for a few years and needed more than just a lick of paint. 🤯❤️ It took months of planning, painting, dismantling, ripping out floors, befriending an electrician (hi Brian), a plumber (hi Sean), and designing and building custom shelving.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
​Today, the transformation is almost complete. Inside, the shop is looking fresh and the candle studio at the back is operational. We can’t wait to finally welcome you in our shop in Dornoch. 🕯✨️

The first day of spring seems to be the most appropriate moment to say that I’m officially back — balancing mum life and shop opening life! Fuelled by snacks & lots of coffee, we're deep into redecorating and getting ready to open our physical candle shop in Dornoch!!

Life lately has been a little hectic, so I thought I'd share some snippets of our wholesome days at Gold Moss. So nice to have had some proper Spring weather for the past few days, I already feel like I'm charged up for May!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Earlier this year, we had a visitor from Poland, who turned out to be the best box-assembler-order-packer I could have dreamed of. Speaking of my wonderful Mum!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. We relocated the studio to Sardinia to sip Aperol Spritz by the pool (ok, perhaps that's not true but I do dream of it...and we did visit Sardinia).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Yesterday, Will managed to squeeze nearly 5k glass jars in our little studio.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. We had the busiest first half of the year in Gold Moss history, thank you!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. I just can't get enough of these scenes in the studio.

6. Our Scottish Woodland candle was featured in Homes&Interiors Scotland.

7. There's always a moment for a coffee date with Layla.

8. Very satisfying stack of assembled boxes.

10. My spelling skills definitely work with the universal phonetic alphabet. Every time I get a giggle when these words just randomly pop into my head!

11. Just one of the evenings preparing your orders.

12. We had some groundwork done in front of the studio, so hopefully, by the summer, we will have a lovely spot outside to take a break.

13. Lots of candles are flying out to our *most incredible* stockists every month - we're so grateful they keep choosing our products!
