In the Apple Tree
The owl is referenced from a photo I took of a newly fledged barn owl chick which spent a day on a branch of the apple tree in my garden, hence the title of the picture. That it stayed put all during the daytime made it easier than usual to get a decent photo of an owl in the wild. Not that my garden is particularly wild. The owl’s nest is in a building over the road and when the chicks were still in the nest, the adults could be seen coming and going across the fields in the twilight to feed them.
Pen and ink on Arches Hot Press watercolour paper.
Black and white work nearly complete when it will then be ready to be scanned and a colour version created. This original will be exhibited at the Shadows of the Stones: Paths to the Past exhibition in Woodford Village Hall SP4 6NR featuring myself and The exhibition is on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June. We are open from 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
