Hunter is now tri-pawd!
Many of you may recognise Hunter, and may be familiar with his story… however for those who don’t…
Hunter is a 10 month old Crossbreed (Akita/Staffy/Mastiff/Rottie) who came to us over 3 months ago..
Sadly his story is a bit of a sad one, he was originally found straying with an injured back leg, his owners were traced.. but they didn’t want him back, and it’s alleged that his broken leg was the result of his previous owner pulling him from a dog cage after he’d messed in it. His finder decided to keep him, but sadly developed an allergy to him.. which is where we came in! We had him stayed and it was evident that Hunter hadn’t received any vet treatment for his leg (for weeks), by which point his bones had already fused. His leg was shorter than the others and he held it at a funny angle… it was thought that we the right care he would be able to build the muscle up and be able to use it again… so he started hydrotherapy and physiotherapy.
He went for castration, and upon closer inspection when he was asleep… his leg had deteriorated and the only option was amputation.
Thankfully Hunter had his op, and it was a huge success… we thought he would take it steady for a few days… how wrong we were!! He came straight out of the vets.. jumping all over everybody and raring to go! He’s adapted so well… and he looks so much happier! ❤️
Now all Hunter needs is his forever home… he’s very friendly with people, and could live with children over 5yrs - however bare in mind that he’s an overgrown pup and can be boisterous!
He’s sociable with other dogs, and could possibly share his home (depending on a dog meeting)… an ideal playmate would be a good natured female of a medium-large size.
Could you be Hunters happily ever after?
