Stories from the Covid19 Queue – Power in the hands of the few!

I went to my local shop recently and was asked by the security guard (on the one door in and out) to wait. So I patiently waited a few minutes answering some emails on my phone and another couple of people joined the queue, but alas no one came out. So I (now we) waited another few minutes doing some banking - paying a bill, still no one came out and yet another couple of people joined the queue. A few more minutes went by with still no one coming out, at which point the security guard said politely with a cheery smile to me and the entire queue "in you go folks" - NOTHING HAD CHANGED – I smiled at him knowingly and continued into the shop that was virtually empty of customers.

Now wouldn’t it be great if rather than wasting so much time in endless queues, we could quickly and easily arrange a time slot to pick up the items ordered?
