Evening Lovelies.

Today one of the children stopped to watch a bee for what felt like an eternity, they were completely fascinated by something most adults would walk past without even noticing.
We have become so busy surviving that we barely experience life while it is happening, we seem to always be rushing, always multitasking, always mentally somewhere else. Crochet taught me how to notice things again.

When I crochet I notice the feel of yarn through my fingers, the rhythm of the stitches, the colour changes in the yarn and that's when I notice my breathing has slowed down, my shoulders have dropped and my tongue is not clinging to the roof of my mouth. The calm that arrives when my brain finally goes quiet for a little while is just wonderful.

Crochet is a slow craft, every session feels like I'm healing something, I'm not becoming somebody new, I'm remembering the parts of myself that existed before the world told me to hurry up.
