A very special guest in the salon today… my mum. 🤍

For Mother’s Day my gift to her was the one thing I know how to give best a little hair glow-up and some proper us time.

We went for a rich, warm copper blonde with soft tonal dimension and a fresh midi cut to blunt up the ends, lift the style and add a little softness. Just a little pick-me-up ahead of my sister’s wedding in a few weeks. ✨

It hasn’t been the easiest for our family, and through it all my mum has been the steady, caring, strong one holding so much together without realising or giving herself enough credit for. Always there for me, my three sisters, our kids, and somehow still finding the time to check in on everyone else too whilst navigating so much heaviness.

She deserves the world. I just hope she loves her new hair as much as I love her and loved spending this time together.

Hair Hub turns ONE 🎂

Well… technically it was last week, and I was just going to let it pass by but it didn’t feel right not marking the milestone.

A year ago I made one of the biggest decisions of my career.

After 13 years running a busy two-floor salon, life threw a few things our way that made me stop and really think about what mattered most. Family life, diagnoses, and a health scare with my Andy made me realise the way I was working just wasn’t sustainable anymore.

I’ve always been a grafter. Late nights, squeezing in that extra client, Saturdays being non-negotiable… that was just the norm in hairdressing.

But one day Savannah told me she didn’t like me working at the salon because when I came home I was often too tired… or a bit grumpy.

And that stuck with me.

So I made the leap.

I closed the salon, closed the diary and completely downsized. One year ago I started working independently at Hair Hub Collective, creating a way of working that meant I could still do what I love but with more balance for my family.

This past year has definitely been an adjustment, but it’s also been one I’m incredibly grateful for.

To the amazing clients who followed me here thank you. Your loyalty, support and willingness to adapt to a new space and a new way of me working means the world.

And if you’ve ever had an appointment on a Wednesday, you’ll probably have met Savannah before tutoring and experienced her interrogation about what you’re having done with your hair 😅

One year of doing things differently.
One year of chasing a better work-life balance.
And one year of realising sometimes smaller really is better.

I’ll be back from January 2nd!

This year has been a big one we moved to a new space, a change that was really needed, and what a vibe it has! 💇‍♂️

We’ve navigated some health scares not just my dad, but Andy too back in February and I can’t thank you enough for your support and understanding with moving somethings around!

A special shoutout to everyone who’s let Savannah and Theo occasionally “interrogate” you while your colour is cooking 😂

I’m so grateful to each and every one of you for coming along on this journey, being flexible when things had to change last minute, and making this year truly special. ❤️

I can’t wait to return refreshed and ready for an amazing 2026!
