If you’ve ever looked at a commercial pattern and thought ‘this just doesn’t fit my body’, this is the workshop for you.

The truth is, commercial patterns are drafted to a standard size that very few of us actually are. So we adjust, we guess, we add seam allowance here and take it in there, and we hope for the best. Sometimes it works. Often it doesn’t. And after a while, that process gets exhausting.

Over three days, we’ll draft your personal dress and sleeve block completely from scratch. What you leave with is a master pattern that is entirely yours.

A block is the foundation of pattern making. Once you have one that truly fits, you can use it as the starting point for any top or dress you want to make. You’re no longer reliant on commercial patterns or endless toiles trying to get the fit right. You have something solid to build from, every single time.

This one is for sewists who are ready to level up, who want to move beyond following patterns and start creating their own.

It’s the most popular workshop I run, which makes sense. Once you have a moulage, fitting stops being a puzzle you fight with every time. You just… sew.

This is a super quick and easy way to change your overlocker threads. No, you don’t have to keep the same colour threads on your overlocker ad infinitum 🙌

Mannequins…

They aren’t very realistic, are they?

Which, when you make your own clothes, isn’t the most helpful.

You can buy a mannequin that is ‘supposedly’ your size, make a garment that fits perfectly, but when you put it on your own body the shoulder is at the wrong point, the waist is slightly off, and it just doesn’t feel… quite right.

Having a ‘body double’ with your exact proportions would make fitting so much easier, wouldn’t it?

That’s why I started my Make A Moulage workshops, and there’s a reason why it is my most popular workshop of all 😁

There really isn’t anything more useful you can do for yourself, no matter where you are in your sewing journey. Having a moulage with your exact proportions, wobbly bits and all, will ultimately mean that your clothes will fit you better in the long run. And isn’t that the goal?

I still remember the first pair of jeans I ever made.

They didn’t fit perfectly. The waistband gapped, the thighs were tight, and I stood in front of the mirror wondering if I’d ever crack it. But something about that moment and the fabric in my hands, the possibility of it, kept me coming back.

Everyone wants a pair of jeans that actually fits them. Not the mannequin. Not the size on the label. Them.

I’ve watched people come into this workshop carrying years of frustration with their body, with shop-bought denim, with feeling like the problem is somehow them when really it’s never been them at all. And I’ve watched them leave with something that fits like it was made for them, because it was.

Anyone else navigating this? 👇

For a long time I felt a bit stuck with this. Like summer was just something to get through in the same reliable denim while everyone else seemed to have it figured out.

I’m a trousers person, always have been. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll occasionally throw on a dress and feel fabulous, but more often than not you can find me in a pair of old faithful jeans 👖

But jeans in a heatwave? Didn’t leave me feeling so fabulous.

‘Summer trousers felt scary and exposing. The weight of jeans brought comfort where the light and floaty fabrics of a pair of summer trousers felt like something I couldn’t hide behind.

Until I made my own. And put them on. And wondered why on earth I had ever worried.

Because summer trousers? Comfiest trousers. Trust me on this one 😁
