Hi, I'm Helen. I started Marilyn Grace Gifts as a fundraising initiative for Girlguiding in 2012. I had signed up for a Charity Trek to Nepal and needed to find a way to raise the £2,500 fundraising target I had been set. The previous year I had made my first Sock Monkey for a friend, for Christmas. I wondered if some of my friends would be prepared to buy some from me to help me out. I set about
making more monkeys and took the first 6 finished items into work, along with a big bag of socks in case people wanted to choose their own design. I was inundated with orders! Since then I have made over 100 sock monkeys before widening my range of products to include penguins, owls, cats, dogs, frogs, bunnies, sheep, dinosaurs... Pretty much you name it! I went on a second charity trek of the Inca Trail in Peru and in 2017 will be embarking on my third walk in aid of Girlguiding, along the Great Wall of China, thanks in no small part to the money raised through the sale of my crafts.
