Hi guys, we've been busy again in the cutting room, and we think this is the most delicious beef we've done yet! The taste test is in, and these are some of the most melt in your mouth steaks we've ever had. We were blessed with our latest steer having a fantastic rump, and a great covering of fat, causing splendid marbling all over.

We've also been hard at it making burgers, so grab yourself some before they sell out.

Prime steaks are yet to hit the freezer, there are Ribeye, Sirloin, Fillet & Rump, and we also have some amazing extra fatty mince which makes the best Bolognese ever!

Also, Gemma at jimblesjumble has kindly restocked us with her Jams, Preserves & Marmalades, and there are some different flavours there to try.

We have soft set honey from Bees n Business, too.

Fat, mob-grazed Herefords. 90 day rested paddocks on our lightest soil. Still no supplementation and going strong.

A few people have asked us how we are getting on in the drought and actually, we're feeling thankful that we still have plenty of grazing ahead of the cows, even if it does look brown and very dry.
If you look more closely at the sward, the lower levels have been shaded by the mature stems, and fresh, dry clover and grasses are still available as good quality feed.
By holistically planning our mob grazing, we reckon in a dry time this is worth more than money or gold, as we still have a fresh bite to go on every single day. By slowing down the rotation to 75 or even 90 days rest, in some cases, we are able to manage the cattle through a drought without panic, although it would be really nice to have a week of heavy rain.

As always, we have beef in our freezers and another butchery day planned imminently, so feel free to ask for a special order. We'll also be making more of our classic burgers this week, fresh from the latest arrival back to the cutting room, as we have just run out.

Mob-grazing has had to be tweaked this week, to find a bit of shade for the cows. They've been using the sheds during the day and grazing in the evenings until the early mornings. We've been busy making hay and silage, and in-between times, finding time to appreciate the wondrous sights of our beautiful, English countryside.
