A trip to the beach for our Thursday friends today! We had a lovely time using rh water colours and running round, the tide was further out this time and there was some sand to have fun in!

Today we took watercolours to the beach and had fun exploring painting on things we found, shells, stones, wood and even cuttlefish! We then threw stones into the sea, found sea glass and practiced some climbing, balancing and jumping!

We then came home for lunch, lentil soup, pitta, cucumber, red pepper, cheese and mango πŸ˜‹

Then lots of playing together this afternoon!

Often our art/crafts at Little Acorns are process over product but when we are making a "product" it's always in a way that children can put their own ideas and creativity into it, without the limits to explore what they can do πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨

This week we are exploring oceans/beaches/seasides! And enjoyed playing with and learning the names of different sea creatures and reading our themed books 🦞🐚🐟🫍🌊

Before we left for toddlers we played our Speech and Language games, our under 3's had fun with bubbles, with some of our friends practicing putting two words together "more bubbles" "bubble pop" 🫧

To end our woodland/grasses week as part of 30 days wild, our little legs walked, ran and climbed 1.7 miles around the woods! We loved looking at the different trees talking about some being tall and skinny and some having wide trunks, feeling the different textures of the bark and the fluffy moss growing too! We spotted places where animals may live, bugs in the bark, saw where rain water had washed down tracks though the woods, heard the birds and found lots of squelchy mud!

We also released our butterflies and saw the ladybirds were still around 🐞

After we played our Speech and Language games which we all did really well with, we caught up with our POT GANG seeds and planted April and May!

We had fun outside under the shelter with the muddy, bubbly water, splashing, scooping, squeezing, pumping and mixing!

We also used paint sticks to make a beautifully, colourful wildflower meadow on the easel!

This afternoon there's been lots of dressing up and singing, and we let our ladybirds free on the cocomelon plant, we hope they stay around 🐞

One of our friends had fun getting Kelly to guess which of the new sea creature toys he was going to take out the bag. There were some great descriptions and lots of language, including aquarium and tentacles and even using the beginning sounds of the words to help with the guessing! A child initiated game based on the S&L game we've been playing this week πŸ’•

Shared from Hampshire Domestic Abuse Partnership

"Major football tournaments bring people together, but for some, they also bring increased risk.

Domestic abuse can escalate during high-profile matches. Research and local data consistently show that incidents of domestic abuse rise around major men’s football events, with reports increasing by around 25% following matches - regardless of whether the team wins, loses or draws.

This campaign aims to raise awareness, support those affected and encourage everyone to take action"

Yesterday we had lots of fun looking at the different shapes of grass in our grass paint brushes, after snack we decided what colours we would need, one of us remembered seeing some pink and purple in the grass on Monday and we spoke about different shades of green.

We then went outside and explored what marks we could make with the grass, once we were finished and they were dried we added some butterfly stickers, they looked lovely, just like a wild grass meadow! We tried to identify which grasses we had.

We then had fun with bubbles, water, mud and paint!
