This week in Lego Club, our Lower School children took on a bridge-building challenge, aiming to create the longest bridge possible to span the gap between two tables. Year 2 pupils had the added challenge of using a limited number of bricks, encouraging them to think creatively and strategically. We were impressed by the variety of designs, with some focusing on length and others on strength.

In Upper School Lego Club, we used our themed dice to decide this week’s challenge: Magical World, Trampoline, and Yellow.

This week in the Lower School Lego club, the children designed flags for their own kingdoms, and we saw some very creative and imaginative ideas.
In the Upper School, we introduced a new challenge: building a self-supporting wall strong enough to withstand the impact of a rolling tennis ball. We tested their creations at the end, and it proved to be quite a tricky task!

We had a day of free building at this week's Lego club, but with a twist. We showed the children how some parts glow brightly under UV light and this inspired lots of them to add magical glowing parts to special areas in their builds. Hopefully you can see some of these in the pictures.

Lego Botanical series opens up a new world for Lego fans. Not only because they are attractive, I am particularly interested in the details of how they use special parts. In this Orchid set, brown claws represent bark in the pot, animal tails become aerial roots, pink frogs form the centre of the flowers, and the flower buds are tiny ice creams!

Have you spotted any interesting parts in the Botanical sets you’ve built?
