Egypt at night along the Nile River strip
The Nile River and its delta looks like a brilliant, long-stemmed flower in this astronaut photograph of Egypt at night, as seen from the International Space Station (ISS)
In this view of Egypt, it's clear to see a population almost completely concentrated along the Nile strip.
The Cairo metropolitan area forms a particularly bright base of the flower. Other big cities North of Cairo and smaller cities and towns within the Nile strip also show their brightness and these settled areas and the connecting roads between them become clearly visible at night.
It's mind boggling that a nation who is enjoying a 100% access to electricity trying to tell another nation, with 50% of power supply to its people and in desperate need of access to electricity, that it doesn't have the right to use its God given resource called Abay (አባይ), which originates from its own land. But it will happen! It will be done! It's happening! It has been done!
According to The World Bank's 2020 report, Egypt has 100% access to electricity while Ethiopia has only 51.1%.
This Astronaut photograph was acquired on October 28, 2010, with a Nikon D3S digital camera using a 16 mm lens. The image was taken by the Expedition 25 ISS crew.
