is often imagined as pure white.
But in reality, not all salt is white—and that doesn’t mean it is of lower quality.
Depending on its natural origin and mineral composition, salt can appear pink, grey, beige, or even light brown. These variations in color are caused by naturally occurring trace minerals such as iron oxide, magnesium, calcium, or small clay particles present in the salt deposits.
In industrial applications, however, color is not the defining factor of quality.
What truly matters are the technical specifications:
purity levels, moisture content, grain size distribution, and chemical composition.
At the Salt Innovation Center, we continuously build and analyze a global database of commercially available salts. By understanding the unique characteristics of each type, we ensure the right salt is selected for the right industry and application.
🧂 Because in the salt industry, performance always matters more than appearance.
