The Story Behind Metro Českomoravská

When Lasvit Air Director Maxim Velčovský, together with Edit Architects, won the competition for Prague's Českomoravská metro station, their concept centred on capturing air as the unseen energy of the underground world. The idea was brought to life at Lasvit Fusing in Nový Bor, the heart of Czech glassmaking.

Translating this concept into material required precision and control. Each panel was created by fusing layers of glass with a carefully distributed glass frit between them, allowing air to form an organic pattern. The panels were handcrafted as individual pieces, their composition balanced to create a continuous and immersive environment across the station.

Thousands of passengers pass through the space each day, carried by the rhythm of the city. Against this constant motion, the air captured in glass remains still.

Transforming Metro Českomoravská

Lasvit Art Director Maxim Velčovský, together with Edit Architects, reimagined Prague's Českomoravská metro station through a simple yet powerful idea: enclosing the fundamental element of the underground – air.

"The concept of the station is air as an essential condition of movement underground. We chose to enclose it between layers of hand-crafted fused glass, where it transforms into a system of bubbles that define the character and structure of the space,” explains Velčovský.

What remains invisible is given form. Air is captured and held in place, translated into a surface that shapes how the station is experienced. An antidote to the constant motion of the underground, the air within the glass remains still.

Some objects travel far. Occasionally, they find their way back.

At the Miami Open 2026, Lasvit trophies once again marked moments of excellence on court. Designed and handcrafted in Bohemia, each piece is shaped by the same forces as the game itself – tension, balance, and the pursuit of perfection.

This year, one returns home with Jiří Lehečka, finalist of the men’s singles. Another with Kateřina Siniaková, champion in the women’s doubles. Others continue with champions Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka.

Congratulations to this year’s champions on their remarkable victories, and to all finalists whose performances defined the tournament.

The Dobrý táta (Good Dad Award) conference asked a simple question: what does it mean to be a good enough father? Not perfect, not heroic, just present.

The room was full of men who build companies, shape cities, close deals at midnight, yet still wonder if they are missing the small moments that actually count.

Fatherhood is a long-term investment in someone else’s courage. You do not always get applause. Sometimes you barely get eye contact. Still, you stay. That is the goal.

To mark this idea, Lasvit created the trophy for the Dobrý táta (Good Dad Award). Handcrafted in Northern Bohemia and designed by Petr Olah, it reflects fathers whose approach to parenthood extends far beyond responsibility – those who actively shape the lives of their children, lead by example, and inspire the next generation.

When Zuzana Maděrová and Metoděj Jílek stepped onto the Olympic podium in Milano Cortina 2026, they carried with them the hopes, pride and a legacy of Czech excellence built on dedication, precision, and mastery.

At Lasvit, we recognise these same values in craftsmanship. The handblown glass trophy created for Czech Olympic medalists is our tribute to that shared pursuit of excellence – in sport, in craft, and in the stories that connect them.

Grace, speed, and years of unseen preparation often culminate in a single moment. A moment that will now be forever commemorated by a Lasvit trophy for Czech medalists at the Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The Glide trophies will return home to Bohemia with medalists Zuzana Maděrová and Metoděj Jílek. Much like their seamless motion on snow and ice, the trophy designed by Winnie Chan embodies the dedication, discipline, and perseverance behind every perfected line.

Crafted from Bohemian glass, it carries not only victory, but the heritage of the place these moments return to.

From the tracks to the glass. The trophies for Jizerská 50 are ready.

Handmade at our Ajeto glassworks, each piece is cast from glass and shaped with the imprint of a real cross-country ski track – turning a fleeting moment on snow into a lasting symbol of endurance, place, and pride.

We’re proud to support this legendary race and even prouder that our work will become a lasting symbol of achievement for the first three to cross the finish line – with trophies that were born from the hands of the most skilled artisans, and above all, trophies that tell a story.

The Heart of the Vltava is the first piece to welcome you to the Vltava: Famed & Flowing exhibition. This glass artwork by Lasvit designer Martin Gallo evokes a boulder from the riverbed, adorned with endless carved meanders. With its integrated light elements, it casts golden reflections reminiscent of the river’s shimmering surface.

The Heart of the Vltava, along with more than 500 other exhibits, can be seen at the Prague Castle Riding School until January 4, 2026. www.vltava2025.cz

Meet Rosa. Our newest lighting sculpture has just made its debut at Downtown Design Dubai!

Designed by Martin Gallo, Rosa draws inspiration from the graceful rhythm of climbing plants – brought to life in crystal.

Each glass component is made by hand, connecting and repeating like petals on a vine. Whether it’s a single bloom or a full sculptural canopy, Rosa grows beautifully into any space.
