4. Day of Czech Paintball League
The last leg in the Czech Republic once again was again a pleasure. We had good weather with some cooling showers from time to time and tough fights during finest paintballing.
Six games were waiting for us this day. One against each team playing the event. The morning was tiresome. We had to count three losses. First one against “Warani”, armed with two great players from “PPArena” due to lack of manpower. The others against PPArena I and PPArena II. At least the weather was fine. Warm, but not hot, and cloudy. It was also mostly dry, leaving a shower from time to time. In the afternoon things finally started rolling. We counted wins against “Troja”, “Conflict” and “Ballistics”. Finally, balm to our wounds. After the first two games we had a short break in between, but the last four were played in a row, keeping the adrenaline level high. There wasn’t much time to eat or relax. Thus, each player had to find his own way of relaxation, leading to some funny situations like in the afternoon, when Nick brought a hot cup of black tea into the pit box during a game, sipping it in between the points. Additionally, adrenaline played its part all day long and left us quite exhausted in the evening.
In the end we were tensely watching the game of “PPArena” against “Ballistics Göttingen”. It was decisive whether we would make it onto the podium or have to accept 4th place. If PPArena won, 3rd place would have been surely ours, but it was “Ballistics” who made it. This left them and us with the same number of wins. We also had the same ratio of points won/lost. Therefore, what counted was whether they or us won the match we played against each other, and as I already mentioned, this was us. For once, paintball gods where favourably disposed towards us. This left us, not too disappointed, with the third place. After all, we got a great bottle of champagne, medals and Czech fame. Pushed by the fact that Bob, Marcel and Nick joined the Czech barbeque kindly offered by Peter on Saturday night. Thanks again for the great apéro! A very pleasant surprise on this day was the announcement of the overall ranking of the Czech Paintball League 2019. We lay just behind “PPArena” on the very second place. This was again balm to our wounds and surely put a smile on every player’s face.
After four weekends of ČPL in 2019 one can only look forward to the last one, the Czech Paintball Cup. What is left to say are the big thanks to our sponsors. HK army provided us with super stylish gear, making it easier for us to represent them as their main team in Western Europe. Tone’s Paintballstore always delivers relentless support not only in terms of equipment, but in the form of Anton Heim as a reliable player and advisor. Furthermore, Tomahawk Paintball again provided paint which could not yet be succeeded by any other. And last, but not least, thanks to the ASVÖ, the main sports association in Vorarlberg, Austria.
