Matter Q***r Space Manitoba Inc. (Matter) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run, and donation-supported Two-Spirit, Q***r, and Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (2SQTBIPOC) -mandated art gallery and library, and Q***r community programming space located in the heart of Downtown Winnipeg. Our mission is to uplift, represent, and celebrate the voices and creativity of 2SQTBIPOC communities.

J. A. Collignon (AKA: Jenna, but you can call her Jenn) is a Canadian author and content creator based out of the prairies who loves everything fantasy. You name it: fantasy books, movies, TV shows, TTRPG podcasts, and she even is a game master of her own pirate-esque Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Most often, she can be found on her couch with a thick fantasy book in hand.

Q***r Book Fair Vendor Feature!

WPRFM will be there sharing their wares! Their market is a vibrant hub of music, creativity, and alternative culture! Embracing the DIY ethos, they've created a space that empowers and connects underground artists, creatives, vintage fashion enthusiasts, and indie businesses of all types.

Each WPRFM event is curated and produced in-house by a dedicated team, creating an accessible and approachable event from start to finish. Their twice yearly markets focus on helping build an accessible creative economy by offering a platform that provides artists with opportunities to network, connect with customers, gain fans, sell their wares and grow their business. They keep our fees low, find the most accessible venues, and partner with like-minded community groups, providing promotion, space and fundraising support at each of their events.

Championing local businesses is at the core of their ethos. From start to finish, they prioritize homegrown talent for all market-related services, whether art, merchandise, or catering.

Q***r Book Fair Author Feature!

R. Dawnraven is a trans non-binary author living on treaty one territory. They write and self-publish fantasy novels for teens and adults. Their debut novel, The Hidden Crystals, was shortlisted in the Whistler Independent Book Awards. They also create a variety of q***r and fantasy art under the name Rin Claymore Arts. When not writing or drawing, they enjoy cycling and LARPing.

Winnipeg writer and editor Elyssa Warkentin will be at the book fair with two novels. A Land So Wild (gay nineteenth century arctic explorers in love!) and The Ghost at the Window, a feminist mystery novel (and introduction to the world of Sherlock Holmes) for early-years readers aged 8 and up.

Q***r Book Fair Vendor Feature!

Crystal Q***r Creations is a trans + disabled owned small business run by Kiera (they/them/he/she), a chaotically multi-media artist, focused on crystal + botanical jewellery, linoprints, + hand-dipped botanical beeswax candles. All lovingly, intentionally handmade from start to finish.

Drawn to flora and fauna throughout their life, creating designs inspired from what they observe through the lens of chronically ill q***r grief + joy and honouring what they experience around them while knowing they’ll return to the dirt themselves eventually. Common themes guiding their work is q***r divinity, new life out of decay, and the way connection + community is magical - including and especially with the bugs and dirt.

Crystal Q***r Creations exists out of a childhood desire for visibility for q***r disabled folks and their art, so an effort to nurture community is a guide in their business values, such as many items providing donations to local community care organizations.

Ally Loyns, is an award winning , confessional poet . Known for her poignant and evocative writing, she explores the complexities of identity, mental illness, and personal growth, with a particular focus on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), a topic she has bravely and authentically woven into her work. Her writing resonates with readers for its emotional depth and raw honesty, giving voice to those navigating the challenges of mental illness, self-discovery, and human connection. Her works lends itself to the style of Anne Sexton & Rupi Kaur.

Mae K. is a first time author born and raised in Winnipeg, and member of the q***r community. Their poetry collection is called Poems From A People Pleaser and it is an emotional journey through the seasons.

It can remind you of the feeling of laughter and sunshine in the Summer, but also the bitter chill of our Winnipeg Winters. The Q***r Book Fair will be the first time they're able to meet the public as an author and they're so excited to connect with the community!
