She is growing up.
You can feel it happening in the small things. The way she doesn’t always reach for your hand anymore. The way she handles something hard and surprises you both. The way she’s becoming — slowly, beautifully — her own person.
And you are so proud. And it’s so fast. And sometimes at 3am you just want to walk in there and hold her like she’s two again.
Here’s what I’ve learned.
They don’t need us less as they grow. They need us differently.
They need to know that our love has no conditions attached to it. That it doesn’t show up only when they’re scared or sad or struggling — it’s just there. Constant. Warm. Completely theirs.
They need their cup filled. Filled with being seen. Being delighted in. Hearing the people who love them most say — not once, not when they earn it — but over and over and over:

One of the biggest misconceptions about separation anxiety is that the goal is to make the anxiety disappear.

It isn’t.

The goal is to help children develop confidence in their ability to cope when they’re apart from the people they love.

Many well-intentioned adults accidentally focus all of their energy on removing distress.

But confidence isn’t built by avoiding hard feelings.

Confidence is built by experiencing hard feelings and discovering:

💛 “I can do this.”
💛 “I can miss my parent and still be okay.”
💛 “I can feel nervous and still be brave.”

As parents, our confidence, predictability, and consistency become the foundation children build upon.

Still doing the 3am rescue?
I was too. Every single night, padding down the hall, lifting her back into bed, staying until she drifted off again. Part of me didn’t mind. I never wanted her to feel alone in the dark.
But another part of me knew- she needed to find herself in that quiet. To discover that she was safe. That she was capable. That she didn’t need me to walk through the door to know everything was okay.
I just didn’t know how to give her both.
So we did it slowly.
We recorded my voice onto FeeliePod. A breathing exercise for when her chest felt tight. A little story for when her mind wouldn’t stop. And a simple “I love you, you are safe, I am close”- because sometimes that’s the only thing a 4-year-old needs to hear at 2am.
She still reaches for it in the night. But now she reaches for it -not the hallway.
That’s not distance. That’s her becoming herself. 🐻
And I get to be the voice that walks her there.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from working with thousands of families, it’s this:

We all just want what’s best for our children.

We want them to be happy.
Confident.
Resilient.
Kind.
Successful.

But so much of parenting can leave us feeling like those outcomes depend on making all the right choices.

The right school.
The right activities.
The right parenting approach.
The right opportunities.

The truth?

There is so much that will influence who our children become that is completely outside of our control.

What *is* in our control is the foundation we help build.

The skills we teach.
The connection we nurture.
The safety they feel with us.
The way we respond when they struggle.
The message that they are loved, valued, and accepted exactly as they are.

Because children who feel safe don’t become resilient because life is easy.

They become resilient because they know they don’t have to face hard things alone.

That’s why I created FeeliePod.

Not to replace you.

Not to distract your child from missing you.

But to help carry your voice, your love, and your connection into the moments when you can’t physically be there.

Because long after our children forget what we bought them or what activities they attended, they will remember how they felt.

Let’s support a generation who feels comfortable with their emotions and have the skills to move through hard ones, support themselves, and others, and feels safe, seen, and valued. It takes intention and practice. But will it ever be worth it when our kids grow up feeling unconditionally loved and resilient!
