I have been doing production sewing the last few weeks and though I am shopping for an industrial machine I haven’t gotten one yet - that’s where the vintage Husq comes in. I love the metal frame with a plastic back so maintaining is easy but it doesn’t lose the strength of an all metal body. It’s also got a GIANT foot pedal to hint at its industrial nature

Unfortunately I couldnt stay for the whole May meeting for the spinners and weavers guild, I am super busy with both production sewing AND production knitting, so I missed the show and tell, but I did get to dye some fiber and take a gander at what guild members were up to

The vintage toy loom by fisher price is a fun intro to weaving now that I got it set up with 3D printed replacement parts. Much improved over my first attempt with help from the comments on my other video

This massive knitting machine is a bulky gauge SK - 155 that has a punchcard reader to do 12 stitch patterning. It came with a matching ribber which is hard to find for these machines, making it a relatively rare set. It will come with a knit radar accessory, and blank punch cards to make custom patterns as well

I got a lovely gift of a fiber sampler from from a spinning teacher at the guild, and they do spin quite differently! Fun to try out some more challenging things than just wool

The service of the SK - 360 knitting machine that came in with a flat sponge and stuck drum. Both very common problems for this machine, which was a popular model in its heyday. The customer also asked for a lesson, so when she comes to pick it up we will go over the basics to get her started

A very common problem when you first get one of these vintage knitting machines is that the sponge inside probably went flat. They need to be replaced periodically, or taken out of the machine when not in use for long periods of time. Luckily it’s a pretty easy process that most people can do at home

This SK - 327 was part of the lot I bought from Vancouver Island, and was in very dusty and furry condition, not to mention missing all of its needles. It sold right away but then the person cancelled a few hours before pickup! Oh well, at least it’s all clean and beautiful for the next person….

Travelling across the water to get a bulk lot of knitting machines. Based on a couple photos I decided to go for it, and glad I did! It was a long day but I got to see an incredible work space and spend some time on the water
