Back by VERY POPULAR DEMAND! 😬🚫🦟

Okay, here’s the deal … I’m out of the black tins and won’t be able to get more until the end of August so I’ve just got the Citronella bars in the ā€œtinless refillā€ option wrapped in a coffee filter. Lotion bars are exactly the same though ā˜ŗļø

I just posted a couple dozen of these on the website and am setting aside more for the farmers market - tomorrow in Terwillegar and Saturday in St Albert … come EARLY!

Usually the skeeters are pretty well leaving us alone by August but this year is extra-special šŸ™„šŸ«

I’m just reading this article now over my slow Sunday morning coffee. Thanks kindly to Melanie and the St Albert Gazette for the feature - very cool! 😊

Melanie stopped by my booth mid-afternoon (why I look hot, sweaty and tired šŸ˜†) on August 1st for a chat. As luck would have it, my son Evan was with me that day so he ran the stall while I chatted with the press - ha!

I wrongly assumed it would be a couple/few weeks before a small blurb about us appeared towards the back of the weekly periodical.

Took me by surprise when folks, even before the 10am horn sounded, started stopping by our tent to mention the article.

Oh dear, I thought. Hope I didn’t say anything too incriminating. My anxious verbal diarrhea is the default mode in these situations.

Even with folks commenting all day that it was a good read, it took til this morning for me to actually read it. Still much work to do on my healing journey.

I do appreciate all who took the time to stop by, chat and comment but there’s one interaction towards the end of the day that I’d like to share.

A lovely lady, unaware of the article, just happened to stop to smell all the goodies. We got to chatting and she had mentioned that her husband was off shopping the other end of the market somewhere.

She selected a few soaps and headed off to meet up with him before the market closed.

A few minutes later they both come rushing back to show me the picture he’d taken on his phone of the article. She didn’t know that he was off looking for me! We got a good chuckle out of that!

Years ago my boys delivers the Gazette in our crescent. They’d inherited the paper route from one neighbour and then passed it along to another eventually. Back then it was a twice weekly paper and a whole lot thicker. I flipped through it every time though.

In our current world of oligarchs, billionaires and division small acts like a local paper featuring farmers’ market vendors is so important.

Thanks again Melanie and good job St Albert Gazette on these weekly features. It means more than you know ā™„ļø

All set up at St. Albert Farmers Market in the PERFECT šŸ‘Œ farmer’s market weather today!

A couple of housekeeping items.

TODAY I’ve brought the large jars of the body butters and body sugar scrubs - and they’re in for a deal! $25 for the scrubs and $35 for the butters!

I’m sold out of most of the Sea Salt Soaps BUT Sage and Lavender has just been restocked and I’ve got a couple handfuls here 😊

SOLD OUT of Charcoal Face Soaps; Laundry Stain Sticks; Sweet Orange, The Forest & Star Anise Salt Soaps

VERY LOW ON Lavender Bud, Spearmint Eucalyptus and Dead Sea Spa soaps

Sorry guys … a huge soap sale in June and then it’s been hospital stays and flood management ever since. I’ve got tons of soap curing but there will likely be a gap with several sold out …. SO, scoop while you can! 😁

Oh, summer of 2026 you’re just not giving us a break šŸ˜•

I literally JUST got my production/curing/office space sorted enough to function after the most recent basement flooding and within 24 hours Mike’s in the hospital šŸ¤•

A month or so ago I was telling you about my son and his 5 day stint at Sturgeon Hospital for rhabdomyolysis. I got some good advice from the hive mind here so I thought I share more on why I missed last Saturday’s St Albert Market and why I’ll be missing tomorrow’s Southwest Edmonton Farmers Market.

Mike has had an angry gallbladder for a while now. Last Wednesday night it finally convinced him to go to the ER. The lovely medical staff (that we’re getting to know šŸ™„) promptly admitted him and bumped him just about to the top of the list for an emergency cholecystectomy. Some complications presented so the laparoscopic day surgery turned into a four day stay.

He is home now and on the mend. I’ve donned my nurses hat once again as he convalesces this week.

So, anyone here living the gallbladder-free life? Any advice/tips? We know the basics about low-fat, smaller meals, etc but that’s about it.

Thank you and apologies for all the missed markets this year … so nutty! I’m really looking forward to a calm and quiet fall šŸ¤ž

My son returns tomorrow and I’ll have his help for the market this Saturday in St Albert 😊

I’m leaving Mike at home to continue tearing out all the flooring and exterior walls of our sieve of a basement while I’m at the market with bells on!!

I’ll be bringing more grab bags and the last of the Citronella lotion bars - come early to scoop either of these hot tickets! 😁

Soap was scuttled upstairs in the wee hours last week as ā€œSAVE THE SOAP!!!ā€ was definitely TOP priority! šŸ˜†

Moral of the story …. if you’re buying a 75 year old house, choose one with an unfinished basement 🫠

See you tomorrow! 10am to 3pm in my usual spot by Grandin Medical.

Sorry guys …. a health emergency, another flood and a family member stuck in the storm was a tipping point last night.

All will be okay but I’m just not able to be at St Albert today. If there’s something you needed this week, please order online and we’ll get it sorted.

Thank you for understanding ā™„ļø
