Iām just reading this article now over my slow Sunday morning coffee. Thanks kindly to Melanie and the St Albert Gazette for the feature - very cool! š
Melanie stopped by my booth mid-afternoon (why I look hot, sweaty and tired š) on August 1st for a chat. As luck would have it, my son Evan was with me that day so he ran the stall while I chatted with the press - ha!
I wrongly assumed it would be a couple/few weeks before a small blurb about us appeared towards the back of the weekly periodical.
Took me by surprise when folks, even before the 10am horn sounded, started stopping by our tent to mention the article.
Oh dear, I thought. Hope I didnāt say anything too incriminating. My anxious verbal diarrhea is the default mode in these situations.
Even with folks commenting all day that it was a good read, it took til this morning for me to actually read it. Still much work to do on my healing journey.
I do appreciate all who took the time to stop by, chat and comment but thereās one interaction towards the end of the day that Iād like to share.
A lovely lady, unaware of the article, just happened to stop to smell all the goodies. We got to chatting and she had mentioned that her husband was off shopping the other end of the market somewhere.
She selected a few soaps and headed off to meet up with him before the market closed.
A few minutes later they both come rushing back to show me the picture heād taken on his phone of the article. She didnāt know that he was off looking for me! We got a good chuckle out of that!
Years ago my boys delivers the Gazette in our crescent. Theyād inherited the paper route from one neighbour and then passed it along to another eventually. Back then it was a twice weekly paper and a whole lot thicker. I flipped through it every time though.
In our current world of oligarchs, billionaires and division small acts like a local paper featuring farmersā market vendors is so important.
Thanks again Melanie and good job St Albert Gazette on these weekly features. It means more than you know ā„ļø
