We have owned a roomba over 20 years. We have owned the same set of couches too. This photo shows the evolution of the roomba in our home. You will see the first level (500 to 900 series roombas), the roomba was able to vacuum underneath with the original black posts. All was good! But then, when we upgraded to the i-series roomba, the vacuum was too high so this meant we had to make some custom raised wooden posts. This worked for many years until iRobot adopted the LiDAR navigation which meant the roombas were even taller! This urked us, so back to our shed to find some small square wooden risers so that the roomba can once again vacuum under our couches! 🤣

Recently we were working on a Dyson V6. Upon inspection it was noted that the dustbin was not working , specifically when pushing down the red release button, the bottom of the bin was not opening. We researched replacement bins and they were between $25 to $40. We then took a closer look and realized it was missing a necessary piece and the bin itself wasn’t actually broken. Long story short, we ended up finding what we needed and 3D printed the part. After installing (see part in black in photo) everything works perfectly!

We recently worked on an old Roomba 960 that was in desperate need of some TLC. We had taken it apart completely to clean the circuit board, clean all of its components, including the cliff sensors and navigation camera, which were full of dust, recondition all of the gears, replace the tire tread, as it was quite worn, replace the front wheel, which was also worn, and replace the battery panel. See the photos below of the before and after photos. We are very pleased with the result, and what's even better is that it's vacuuming much more quietly and much more efficiently than before!

We have launched a new video to provide a step by step how to install our 3D printed contact holders on YouTube. It had taken us a while to design the contact holders but also come up with a method to make the installation easier. Here is the link:

We have been working on a 3D printed replacement contact holder for the j9 combo self filling tower. This proved to be quite difficult to design but after multiple versions we landed on a successful print! We have been testing it out in our j9 combo self emptying charger for the past month. Here we have installed it (the black part of the contact holder). Some tricky work is needed for installation as it requires mounting the white gear component which can be tricky as there is a small magnet on top and a small spring to deal with while re-inserting the metal pin at the same time. We are going to have these for sale shortly for those that would like to repair their melted charging contact!

Today we finished working on a Braava M6 (mapping robotic mop) that we got from an auction. The braava was in rough condition as the charging contacts were corroded and the lid was doing some disco lights (blue, red and white all flickering at the same time). So we nicknamed this one braava lights!

When we dismantled it, we noticed the counter weights were heavily rusted and the small water tubes were also damaged. Long story short, we replaced the charging contacts with a brand new set, replaced the counter weights, replaced the tubing and repaired the lid (dismantled the lid, repaired the small circuit board and replaced the small magnet inside the lid which was also corroded). Now this Braava is back to its new condition!

This made us wonder why this roomba with very low hours of use had so much corrosion? We figured that the inner tubings were leaking from the use of an antibacterial cleaner (can be harsh on the small tubes), causing water to leak inside.

So the lesson here is to make sure to use a proper cleaner. Rule of thumb anything that is antibacterial (Lysol) is not a good choice for these machines.

See the photos below for the before and after!

We just finished working on a roomba e6 that had been terribly scratched on top. The roomba required quite a bit of work too but after completely dismantling it, cleaning and servicing it, it’s now back to purring like a kitten and vacuuming like you won’t believe! Plus we resurfaced the cover (same cover) to look almost brand new again. See what you think here (we have attached photos of it before and after)

We are pleased to announce the successful repair of a damaged lid on an i series self-emptying tower! A fractured lid hinge had hindered its normal operation. We devised a durable solution, creating a 3D printed replacement hinge. In order to install the 3D printed hinge correctly it was necessary to completely remove the broken hinge with a use of a chisel type tool. Then a two-part epoxy adhesive was applied to secure it in place. After allowing the epoxy to cure overnight, the lid was reattached and now functions perfectly! See photo below (hint: the bottom hinge is the replacement!).

After successfully repairing an i series self emptying tower that had a melted charging contact, we decided to sell these on eBay for $35 for a 2 pack for people to be able to repair their own self emptying chargers. These fit the ADE-N1 and the ADG-N1 charging bases. Some skill is required to install them but these 3D printed charging contact holders work perfectly! Save money buying these versus replacing a self emptying tower! Or we can do the work for you. If interested to purchase, reach us here or check out our eBay listing here

We successfully repaired a self emptying tower for an i7 plus. One of the charging contacts melted on the right side making the tower unusable. It would no longer charge the roomba. We 3D printed a replacement part, taken the tower apart and replaced the melted part. Now we are happy to report that the self emptying tower is again working properly! So if you have a tower with the same problem, they are repairable!

Today we came across a brush module that had significant damage because of the brushes not being cleaned at all or not often enough. What you can see here is the bearing (grey cap) was completely melted into the brush module. The brush could not be removed. This was caused by a significant build up up of hair around end of the brush, which melted the end of the brush and melted the brush module too. We were able to to salvage the brush module fortunately but it wasn’t easy. So we are passing on the importance of regularly cleaning your brushes which means not only cleaning around the brushes but also pulling off the grey bearings and cleaning out the hair underneath (see last photo of the bearing removed ).
