When my children saw Frozen last year it change their lives forever. All my daughters were into some
form of music or art but their interest had accelerated and continue to grow as we speak. The words and expression in her music not only helped their music, but their confidence in school, social and sports. Everything they did was related to her music from Frozen, Wicked, if/Then and Rent. Victori
a in particular had the chance to watch Idina in her earlier days on Broadway. Her two younger sisters can't quite remember but were there as well. Victoria had decided that she wanted to create a show based on frozen and wicked for her school called The Wickedly Frozen Spectacular. (Backyard Party Theme)
She bent over backwards and climbed mountains to get it approved at her school and we were very
proud to see the effort she put in to getting her own opportunity to perform a production that would be fun for the entire school, but unfortunately that dream was taken away from her at the end of her graduation year. Feeling bad but very proud for Victoria and her sisters; mom and myself decided to bring them to New York when we heard Idina was going to perform at the Radio City Music Hall as well as her own Broadway show, If/Then. The girls wanted to show her appreciation at backstage but of course was very difficult due to her popularity. By coincidence the girls also got a chance to meet with her casting crew
who are fantastic people to meet. My assumption of closure for the girls to attempt to do the show was far from over. This experience only strengthened their interest even more after their trip to New York. Because they're all moving to new schools we decided to postpone the show till next spring in order to prepare themselves adequately and want to make this a special production for them. Victoria also realized that Idina has her own foundation and wanted to raise funds on her show. Her goal is to raise enough funds to achieve executive producer status of $10000 or more for The Broader Way Foundation. The irony that tickets will be going on sale tomorrow makes the girls extremely excited and even more committed to this event although six months away. Victoria, her sisters (Angel and Patricia) and possibly any of her friends to meet Idina personally when she comes to Toronto for those who have helped her with her fundraising goal and efforts for one of the most important people in her life. She was also inspired when people were able to sing with Idina as volunteers ;-‐)
We will be also making a keepsake production video to send a message out there that we are dedicated to offering girls an outlet for self-‐expression and creativity through arts-‐centered programs such as The Broader Way. The on building self-‐esteem, developing leadership qualities and striving for personal and social achievement has been the greatest
reward to my wife and myself as parents watching our children grow over the last 12 months. And we give a lot of that credit to Idina Menzel. We are open for ideas and look forward to hearing from you very soon.
