An action shot of me delivering whole school training to all of the academic staff at my school in the auditorium whilst wearing me made trousers. Despite being pretty extraverted, I really don't enjoy being the centre of attention at such a scale, and I'm not sure I'll ever get used to using a microphone! Please tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't like the sound of their own voice amplified over a speaker 😂

Anyway, I've done my bit for this round of inset training - an hour of delivering the training Vs the 7+ hours to prep it, but I'm grateful to have a job (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator or SENCO in an international school) that means no 2 days are ever the same.

We've been back in Mexico City almost a week and I had a soft start to the new academic year with a couple of days at work. Next week is our Inset training and the students arrive the following week.

I wore memades most days and I followed the suggestion by SewOver50 Sewing Community to add an overlay of the patterns that I used. I think it looks a bit overcrowded as I couldn't find a way to make the overlay images smaller 🤷‍♀️ Some of the photographs were taken in the afternoon just before rain so they're a bit dark.

Kelli at True Bias in a fun jersey print from SPOTLIGHT in KL and Your Sewing Pattern Destination 1377trousers in a textured cotton that I overdyed.

Friday Pattern Company in white linen (tablecloth from H&M) that I've worn repeatedly this summer with a handwoven neon pink gingham top from Cambodia that I shortened and reshaped.

I'm currently at the boarding gate at Heathrow waiting to fly back to Mexico City after 6 wonderful weeks seeing friends and family in England.

I wanted to share a post just on my by Izzie | PDF Sewing Patterns & Video Tutorials that I made as part of my wedding guest outfit. I'm not sure how well you can see it, but there is a beautiful swoop that goes up part of one leg and across the waist. I used stripe play, but if you scroll to the last image you can see the pattern line drawing.

Whilst essentially the pattern is an elasticated wide leg trouser, I really like the swoop design feature, and I will make another pair on 2 different colourways or a plain and print maybe?

We went to a family wedding on Saturday and it was wonderful - very relaxed and lovely to spend time with family on my husband's side.

I made my co-ord/faux jumpsuit from a gorgeous H&M viscose single quilt cover and matching pillowcase with my trustee pink jersey blazer and new beaded earrings and bags from Mexico. I will do a separate post soon about Forest & Thread is now Izzie | Sewing Patterns Reimagined as they really do deserve it, especially as I spent some time pattern matching the stripes 😂 The top is Kelli at True Bias with slightly widened straps. I also made another top, but it would be better worn separately from the trousers as it looked a bit like pyjamas, which wasn't the look I wanted.

Just under a week left in England before we fly back to Mexico City - always mixed feelings, but trying not to think about it too much now.

Continuing with our visits to university towns and cities and today it was Leeds. I've only been once before, a couple or so decades ago, and I was pleasantly surprised as it was even nicer than I remember it from before.

Molly loved the campus and at the moment Leeds and Cardiff are in her top 2. We walked around the campus, some of the city and then got the Yellow Water Taxi to the docks.

I'm wearing a recently made white linen THE ASSEMBLY LINE with my trustee Named | Sewing Patterns for the Modern Maker from that I added some wonderful neon Mexican woven trimming as straps.

We went to Cosby yesterday to see the yarn bombing.

The theme this summer is 'Around The World in 80 Displays' - a globe trotting textile adventure that celebrates wildlife from across the planet.

There were life sized crochet giraffes and Chinese dragons and intricately detailed displays of knitting and crocheting. It was a delight!

We were in Bristol yesterday, continuing visiting university cities for our youngest to get more of an idea about them. She's 17, and we've spent the last 10 years living overseas so we're spending part of our 6 weeks back in the UK travelling around (currently based in Leicestershire as it is where my family are, and we've been to Nottingham, Ramsgate/Broadstairs/Margate, London, Cardiff and Bristol so far). It was another scorcher, and I'd forgotten how hilly the city was.

We got around quite a bit - wandered around various university buildings up to the Chemistry department, walked over the Clifton suspension bridge, went to Harbourside etc.

Hard to see, but I'm wearing Kelli at True Bias from an upcycled blouse and baby blue Friday Pattern Company and my trusty yellow Camper sandals

I had no idea that Cardiff was so lovely! We visited so that our youngest could look around the university and the city to see if it could potentially be for her and it got the thumbs up from all of us.

It was graduation day so there were caps and gowns everywhere we went as the city is full of photo opportunities. The glorious weather and the boat trip to Cardiff Bay made it feel like we were on holiday!

Lovely couple of days in London. Today we got an Uber boat from Putney Pier to Cadagon Pier and had a walk around Chelsea with the pastel houses and crossed the bridge to Battersea Power Station for lunch.

Yesterday we walked from Wimbledon to Colliers Wood where we took photographs of all 3 flats that we lived in. We then continued onto Tooting, walking past St George's where the girls were born. We then had dinner with friends at a Thai restaurant in Wimbledon Village - we've all been friends for over 25 years and our children have always known each other.

There's something truly special about London in the summer.

Lovely long weekend at Ramsgate to celebrate my mum's belated 80th birthday with my sister and her family. Sadly my eldest, Jess couldn't make it as she was working.

Broadstairs’ iconic York Gate, built in 1540 to defend the town from pirates and storms. This historic stone archway on Harbour Street originally featured heavy wooden doors and a portcullis.

Walking along the Viking Coastal path - it was very breezy and the walk on the beach around the headway took longer than we expected!
