We have had the pleasure of serving the West Kootenay’s since 1972. That is the year that Gordon and Jill Cowan decided that leaving the safety of a good job in Calgary, buying a failing business, and moving their then six children to Nelson was a good idea! They worked hard to turn this business around, working six or seven days a week and many countless hours to put food on the table and a roof

over their eight children’s (sometimes more with foster kids) heads. The business was originally at 111 Baker St, but in 1976 Gordon had saved enough money to purchase the former dry cleaners building at 517 Victoria St, and completed renovations that year for the grand opening. As the years went on the business out grew the original space and we have completed five renovations over the years to expand and increase efficiency. Our last renovation was completed in late 2017 and updated the layout inside the space as well as modernized the exterior. In 1995 Gordon and Jill retired and sold the business to their sons Andy and John who continued the tradition of hard work and customer service. Today the business is carried on by Andy and Paul and our wonderful staff which includes many long time employees like Annette Ball, Catherine Lundstrom, Karen Bullaro, and Jasmine Ashlie. We are proud to be a local company and support many of our local charities, sports teams, and causes. Thank you to all of our customers over the years for allowing us to serve you.
